Can you become super rich if you're a Plastic Surgeon?

Medicine, then is not your calling. And plastic surgery for sure, is not what you would ever wish to do. Not EVER. Trust me. The best way to become super rich, is to invent something everyone wants.like computers (Bill Gates), and Facebook. You would find medicine far too demanding, you would be over 30 before you earned your first dime, leaving med school easily $100,000 in debut. Almost everyone who goes into medicine expects to make a nice living, but, uhhhhh superrich? Nope. And in a down economy, which the world will be in for easily the next decade, the luxury of any plastic surgery is suddenly worth only 25% of what it was. Lots in our town are working half time. for 1/4 the money.

College help... Cosmetic/Plastic Surgeon school.?

1. That's not how it works. You need to start with a bachelors degree, with any major and the premed classes. You can do this at any 4-year college or university. At the end of college, you apply to med school. If you get in (most people do not) that's 4 years somewhere else. Then you've got 5 years of residency (training) in surgery, somewhere else again, followed by 5 years of fellowship in cosmetic surgery at a hospital or university. You do not study cosmetic surgery until after your first 13 years of college and training, and you will have changed schools 3 times by then. 2. You get paid to do a residency and fellowship, but not much (so little you are allowed to keep deferring your student loans). College costs between $0 and $60,000 a year for 4 years. Med school costs between $20,000 and $70,000 a year for 4 years. 3. 13 years for a general surgeon, up to 18 for a cosmetic surgeon. That's the number of years starting in college before you can get a job on your own. 4. You can look that up, but who knows what it will be 20 years from now when you would be applying for jobs. Most of the kids asking these questions (and that's a lot) will end up dropping out of college. Of those that stay, most wo not finish the premed requirements. Of those that do, not all take the MCAT. Of those that take the MCAT and apply to med school, most wo not get into any medical schools. Your chances of making it this far are far less than 1%.

Which is the best destination for my cosmetic surgery? Suggest me some best plastic surgeons?

Stay away from Foreign Surgery unless you are going for Sex Change. Thailand is reported to do good work and I have seen several decent results. Also very cheap compared to US. For routine US surgery, I would find patients operated upon by the surgeon. Ask friends who have had the surgery. Research, Research, Research. Plastic Surgery does NOT mean minor surgery. Check the operating room if it is outpatient facility. Ask to meet the Anesthesiologist. If he or she does not make you comfortable...keep looking. Ask about post-op care. I live in San Diego, which probably has as many Plastic guys as Los Angeles. Again, Plastic does not mean "Minor". There is no such thing as "Minor Surgery". I do a lot of Plastic Surgery, but none of it is cosmetic. Usually huge ulcerations, Burns, Trauma lacerations. Good Luck

I would like to become a plastic surgeon/ENT, and wondering what path should I take (ex. plastic surgery residency, then ENT fellowship, and after that plastic surgery fellowship)?

The path is long and arduous regardless of the one you choose. Most board certified (i.e. real) plastic surgeons are trained in both general and plastic surgery. It is a 6 year residency. When finished you will be competent in hand surgery, breast reconstruction, aesthetic surgery, burns, microsurgery and pediatric plastic surgery. To obtain certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery you will be tested for knowledge in all of these key areas. If you only wish to do facial plastic surgery, the other route is to do an ENT residency followed by a year in an approved facial plastic surgery fellowship. A shorter timeline, but you will lack the breadth of a fully trained plastic surgeon. There are a number of my colleagues who did the whole thing—ENT, facial plastic surgery then two or three years more in an accredited plastic surgery program that will accept the ENT education as a substitute for general surgery (you usually only do one year of general surgery before ENT).My colleagues who are double board certified have taken the long route but feel comfortable doing anything in the head and neck, including tumors and reconstruction, but can still do the body work of a plastic surgeon.Only you can decide which is best for you.

In college, major in pre-med, then in grad school you can concentrate on your specialty, surgery. As for colleges? Again talk with your guidance counselor. I am not familiar with California colleges, but I would pick a University that has a great med school. I can however, recommend the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. It is affiliated with the University hospital, a world wide known hospital for all types of surgeries, cancer and burn units, as well as an excellent and brand new children's hospital. Dont use Heirs in Jonesboro, Ar I hear alot abot staph there.— — — — — —what should be my major if i wanna be a plastic surgeon?pico has it right. Full degree, some hard science major, some colleges or universities actually have a pre-med major. You have to get good grades, like 3.5 or better. Then you take the MCAT and get a good grade on that. Then you apply to medical schools. Should you get accepted it is four years (2 years didactic/2 years clinical). Lots of standardized and non-standardized tests in all four years. At the end, you take a FLEX exam, federal licensure exam. After that you apply to residency programs. Most of the plastics programs require at least one year gen surgery rotation. You must be VERY competitive (ie better than all the others) to be considered for a plastics position. Different programs have different numbers of years, but for the most part it will take you six or seven years after medical school to complete. Then you have to take national board certification exams. They vary between one and three days, depending on specialty. THEN you are ready to be a plastic surgeon. Best wishes. The specialty of oral and Maxillifacial surgery is important and a number of cosmetic facial surgeons do not even have that background. There is a huge amount of restorative surgery that is done to correct gross facial deformities that are genuine birth defects just so people can live in society without being hidden away like they once were.
