Style and approach

Use of narrative and thematic musicAfter winning the 1981 World Figure Skating Championships (which brought the distinction of MBEs), and with three more years before the Olympics, they began to plan routines which used a single piece of music and had some narrative or thematic element. At that time, Ice Dance "long" routines typically used several pieces of music, often with different rhythms to show off the command of different steps (thus their Free Dance in 1981 used "Fame", "Caravan", "Red Sails in the Sunset", and "Sing, Sing, Sing"); the Original Set Pattern dance used only one piece of music, but the entire routine had to be performed three times in sequence, exactly the same way. In 1982, they presented a long programme to the overture from the musical Mack and Mabel, which evoked the emotions of a sweet but stormy romance; at the World Championships in 1983, they enacted a visit to the circus with music from Barnum, a performance which brought them the honour of receiving the world's first perfect score, with help from the stage show's star, Michael Crawford; in 1984, at the Olympics, they stunned the world with Bolro, and also with their dramatic Paso Doble (Capriccio Espagnol) short routine, in which Torvill was the bullfighter's cape. They had learned to choose and edit music carefully and design routines that were appealing both technically and imaginatively, and their completeness of presentation included thematically appropriate costumes. In 1989, during the duo's visit to Australia, they recorded an album Here We Stand, produced by Kevin Stanton with arrangements by Warwick Bone and Derek Williams, and recorded while Christopher Dean was laid up in Sydney, recuperating from a torn ligament. Sales of the album were poor, and this may have been due to the fact that the album featured the dancers singing the material ghosted by backing vocalists, instead of the music they danced to, however it survives on iTunes. Complying with Olympic rulesTorvill and Dean's 1984 Olympic free dance was skated to Maurice Ravel's Bolro. Ravel's original Bolro composition is over 17 minutes long. Olympics rules state that the free dance must be four minutes long (plus or minus ten seconds). Torvill and Dean went to a music arranger to condense Bolro down to a "skateable" version. However, they were told that the minimum time that Bolro could be condensed down to was 4 minutes 28 seconds, 18 seconds in excess of the Olympics rules. Torvill and Dean reviewed the Olympic rule book and found that it stated that actual timing of a skating routine began when the skaters started skating. Therefore, they could use Bolro if they did not place their skates' blades to ice for the first 18 seconds. They timed the performance so that when Torvill first placed a blade on the ice, they would have the maximum skating time remaining.

Professional approach

Her academic and artistic education, combined with her multicultural vision, bring multiple facets and a complex dimension to her works. By means of the application of her reflexions on the identity of cities and metropolis, her projects respect and reinforce the qualities of the context where they are put in. By fostering the crossing spaces and a strong relationship with nature, they create a special atmosphere, express easily identifiable collective values and initiate a dialogue with the environmental urban landscape and the local culture. Her sober architecture, with light and pure lines, based on the lightering of the masses and on the economy of forms and materials, shows that building in an economic way do not mean banalization or loss of architectural quality. Flexibility is an ongoing theme in her projects and one of the most important for Elizabeth de Portzamparc, for it allows fighting the obsolescence of buildings, to assure their durability. A project must be capable of evolving throughout time and to adapt to different purposes and programs. As shown by the projects of the GED and the Le Bourget railway stations, by following this principle, she creates "total-flex" buildings, for mixt use, with open plans and with the possibility of future extension without changing the original concept. Sustainable development is an ecosystem approach adopted by Elizabeth de Portzamparc at al levels of her work according to the different aspects and needs of each project, whether it concerns territory planning or buildings. She develops bioclimatic projects, energetically autonomous, which become active in this action in every dimension (environmental, economic and social). By recreating the local biodiversity in her projects, she embeds her buildings perfectly to the nature and to each context.

The Intriguing History of the Black Madonna'
The US artist Theaster Gates explores the concept of the 'Black Madonna' in his latest exhibition, which celebrates images of powerful black women. Alastair Sooke finds out more. Most people coming face to face for the first time with Dutch artist Maerten van Heemskerck's 16th-Century oil painting of the Virgin and Child, at the Kunstmuseum Basel in Switzerland, would see a perfectly conventional picture: before an imaginary landscape meant to evoke Mediterranean antiquity, a seated blonde Mary, her plaited hair draped in orange cloth, glances at the viewer, while the Christ child fidgets on her lap, ignoring his mother's exposed breast. So far, so traditional. For the celebrated 44-year-old US artist Theaster Gates, however, Van Heemskerck's painting is charged with surprising significance. "Christ has turned away from his mom's milk, and is looking dubious and devious," he tells BBC Culture. "Meanwhile, Mary is the image of a harlot, with come-hither eyes. I call her 'The Ghetto Madonna'." Gates's 'reading' may be unorthodox, even provocative - in particular, his assertion that Van Heemskerck's Virgin "is an octoroon, ie one-eighth black" is bound to make art historians start harrumphing. But it is typical of the way his deft mind works, making startling, unforeseen connections between disparate things. We are standing before Van Heemskerck's panel because Gates - who hails from Chicago and has won international acclaim for his renovations of dilapidated buildings in the city's South Side neighbourhood - has hung it at the start of Black Madonna, his new solo exhibition at the Kunstmuseum, which will run until October. According to Gates, a thoughtful, charismatic presence who began his artistic career as a potter, the exhibition "weaves back and forth from religious adoration to political manifesto to self-empowerment to historical reflection". It makes for a complex but intoxicating mix. Consider, for instance, how Gates presents 'The Ghetto Madonna', which he calls the "anchor" of the show. It appears alongside a disturbing video, by Gates, looping clips from a 1935 film, The Littlest Rebel - in which Shirley Temple, playing the daughter of a plantation-owning family during the American Civil War, appears in blackface. Next to this, we see a large photograph of a beautiful young black woman, her face framed by pretty, white lace, reproducing a vintage shot from a 20th-Century lifestyle magazine pitched at African-Americans. "So, here are three 'Black Madonnas'," Gates tells me, with a smile. Like a virginThe inclusion of Van Heemskerck's painting alludes to the so-called 'Black Madonna' in Western art history. Conventionally, of course, Mary appears in painting and sculpture as a young mother with white skin. Sometimes, however, she appears with a dark or black face and hands - and this Black Madonna fascinates Gates, whose work interrogates the legacy of the civil-rights movement and the experience of black people in the US today. In the past, for instance, he has made a series of artworks out of decommissioned fire hoses called In the Event of a Race Riot. Meanwhile, his show in Basel - staged across two of the museum's venues - contains one of his dramatic black tar paintings, inspired by his father's hard-graft work as a roofer (his mother was a schoolteacher): every aspect of the artwork, from the glossy bitumen applied with a large mop, to the copper nails used to secure the picture to its support, conforms to traditional roofing techniques. "It doesn't leak," says Gates, with another smile. Examples of the Black Madonna may be found all over the world. According to some estimates, there are around 500 Black Madonnas in Europe alone, mostly Byzantine icons and statues in Catholic and Orthodox countries. A monastery in the city of Czestochowa in southern Poland, for instance, contains a dark-skinned Byzantine icon of the Holy Virgin. Meanwhile, a shrine in Einsiedeln Abbey, a Benedictine monastery around 25 miles (40km) southeast of Zurich in Switzerland, boasts a miraculous Black Madonna statue, its skin possibly darkened from centuries of exposure to candle smoke. Gates has also encountered a Black Madonna in a Greek Orthodox monastery on the island of Heybeliada, near Istanbul. "There are lots of stories," says Gates, who is a professor of visual arts at the University of Chicago. He isn't the only contemporary artist drawn to the subject: in 1996, British artist Chris Ofili painted his controversial Holy Virgin Mary, depicting a sensual black Mary in a blue robe, against an orange background, with a lump of elephant dung in place of her bare breast. "Once," continues Gates, "there was a fire in France, and the Madonna there smote the fire, and ingested the trauma. It wasn't that she was charred, but there was something about the trauma that made her black. I'm curious about this idea: could a 'Black Madonna' simply be a white Madonna with trauma? In other words, do Madonnas 'mature' towards blackness because of something bad happening?"It's an intriguing, unsettling notion - but, says Gates, who has two degrees in urban planning, he isn't interested in the 'history' of the Black Madonna so much as the "lived experience of those who worship her". "I got super-curious about [Our Lady of] Guadalupe," he says, referring to a famous full-length representation of a mixed-race Mary in a shrine in Mexico City. He also set out to discover more about Yemoja, a Yoruba deity sometimes viewed as an equivalent of the Virgin Mary, and "the role of the black woman in Haitian voodoo". 'Beautiful, powerful women'Gates says that his interest in the Black Madonna stems from his experiences growing up. He was raised in a Christian household, the youngest of nine children, and the only boy. "I was born in a house of love," he tells me, "surrounded by earthly Madonnas." Aged 13, Gates became director of the youth choir at his church. Is he still a believer? He pauses before replying: "I definitely have a stronger belief capacity than most, as a result of having been brought up religious." He no longer attends church every Sunday, he says, but he does have a gospel-inspired band called the Black Monks of Mississippi (who performed in Basel to mark the opening of his new show). "Having the capacity to believe in things is what artists do," Gates tells me. "Like, I believe that the ugly can be beautiful. I have an amazing belief muscle." When he was 19 years old, Gates visited relatives in Detroit, where he came across the Shrine of the Black Madonna - a church once described by The New York Times as "an important centre for black theology and political power". It was founded in 1967, in the wake of the decade's urban race riots, by the religious leader Albert Cleage. "The proposition," explains Gates, "was that the mother of God was black, therefore Christ was black, and so we were connected to this long lineage of powerful people." As a teenager, Gates found this idea exciting. "It was very radical," he says.Another important, related strand of Gates's Black Madonna exhibition concerns the photographic archive of the Johnson Publishing Company (JPC), which, since 1945, has published the monthly magazine Ebony, conceived as an equivalent of Life magazine for an African-American market. Gates says that copies of Ebony and its sister magazine Jet, modelled on Reader's Digest, could be found "all over my house" when he was growing up: "They were a kind of encyclopaedia of everyday black life."At the Kunstmuseum Basel, Gates has constructed an elegant, saltire-shaped wooden cabinet containing more than 2,600 images of black women from the archives of JPC, which the artist describes as "the most important black publishing company to have ever existed". Many of the images present beautiful models dressed in glamorous clothes - but there are also photographs of 'ordinary' women engaged in domestic activities such as cooking or looking after children. "I wanted to celebrate black female images in the collection," explains Gates, who considers the "beautiful, powerful women" who appear in the cabinet as 'Black Madonnas', ie "everyday women who do miraculous things". "At the heart of it," he continues, "I was super-interested in how powerful women in and around my life seem to be a solution that the world is never looking for." This, says Gates, is the nub of his new exhibition. "So many of the challenges in this world are brought on by men," he tells me. "Sometimes I wonder: if women had the position they deserved [in society], would things be the same? Would we be as greedy, as corrupt, as non-caring, as warring? Those are the questions on my mind."Alastair Sooke is The Telegraph's Critic-at-LargeIf you would like to comment on this story or anything else you have seen on BBC Culture, head over to our Facebook page or message us on Twitter. And if you liked this story, sign up for the weekly bbc.com features newsletter, called "If You Only Read 6 Things This Week". Tell him how much you enjoy making love and that you would like to do so more often. Perhaps it's timing and life stress that's getting in the way? I know sometimes our lives are very hectic with kids and careers and just plain exhaustion. Skin Care Products That Work Well For...?
I bought Neutrogena Acne Mark Fading Peel today. I just used it for the first time tonight but I've heard good things. It costs about $12 at cvs. Other people say cocoa butter works, vitamin e oil, mederma, neutrogena visibly even, and bio oil. Its all about what you want to try. Good luck!.1. im a preteen, so how can I earn money so I can buy own stuff such as, skin care products , and makeup?babysit dog walk paper/flyer route shouldnt your mom buy you skin care? garage sale allowance lawn care working in library bake sales water plants house sit washing cars2. Tips on healthy habits(food, exercise etc) please?Actually, in these polluted times, you are better off using makeup than not using it. Just be sure and wash it off like religion every night. Almost any brand is ok, find the type for your skin type, oily, dry, whatever. L'Oreal is great. The same company makes Lancome. Neutrogena makes a great line of skin care products, whether oily or dry. Shampoo and conditioner? Pantene is probably the best for the bucks. And deodorant? I like Secret. And if you are talking about "feminine hygiene" deodorant, DON"T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT - there has been a direct link between the use of those and ovarian cancer. That area of your body naturally cleanses itself3. Why are there different face/skin care products for men/women?First of all, there are different products used for different types of skin. I would never ever buy a skin product directed to only men or only woman because most of the time that means it has fragrance in it which is a deff. skin irritant!4. Do skin care products like neutrogena and proactiv work? ?look up "tea tree oil" it is all natural and really works. I really recommend this5. What should I look for in skin care products?Garnier Pure Active :) Hope it works6. Good skin care products for red skin?I have the same problem! I use Eucerin Redness Relief underneath my foundation and it help a lot. I am pretty sure you can get it at Walmart. And as for the eyelids i do not really know but i guess you could put it on their too. :)7. What is the best moisturizer for the eye area that's organic & for younger, dry skin?Moisturizers or beauty products DOES NOT prevent you from getting wrinkles. Sorry! Beauty Enemy #1: Parabens Parabens are preservatives used in most store-bought cleansing and beauty products. Parabens are also estrogen mimickers. This means that these toxins act to increase the production estrogen in your body. Over a dozen university studies have linked these parabens to BREAST CANCER, increased body weight in the form of belly and thigh fat, and accelerated aging, specifically women between the ages of 22 and 67. Beauty Enemy #2: Nanos Nanos may sounds like something out of a science fiction movie, but for your skin, they are scarier than a horror movie. Nanos cause a normal skin cell growth to break down, which results in early wrinkling, and DEEPENING THE WRINKLES you already have. Here's the shocking part: nanos are usually found in anti-aging skin lotions. It's scary that the creams we ladies are using to look younger can actually make us look older! Nanos are also found in the majority of sunscreen lotions, so beware. FYI: In the beauty industry, there is no industry-agreed meaning for terms like 'organic' or 'natural'. Unlike the food industry, these terms are not regulated for cosmetics which means companies can use these terms pretty freely. Also, products like shampoo, conditioner and body wash are mostly made of water so therefore are mostly natural (because water is natural, right?). So if a shampoo is 90% water, then a company can simply claim "90% organic or natural" and be telling the truth. Certainly, this is not in the spirit of what people believe organic to mean, but it is within the law. Do not believe the hype: "For skin care products, 'organic is not enough,. Some organic products are fabulous, and some are not." Dr. Lisa Chipps , M.D. specializes in removing skin cancer & repairing the resultant wound (laser therapy whiz) in Rodeo Drive. "Organic skin care products are trendy, but that does not mean nonorganic ones are dangerous," Wendy E. Roberts, M.D. past president of the Women's Dermatologic Society. Glamour May 2012 Example 100% additive-free natural tobacco, labeling as required by the FDA: Organic tobacco does NOT mean a safer cigarette. No additives in our tobacco does NOT mean a safer cigarette. Are cosmetics made with "organic" ingredients safer for consumers than those made with ingredients from other sources? No. An ingredient's source does not determine its safety. For example, many plants, whether or not they are organically grown, contain substances that may be toxic or allergenic. For more on this subject, see FDA Poisonous Plant Database. Under the FD&C Act, all cosmetic products and ingredients are subject to the same safety requirement: They must be safe for consumers under labeled or customary conditions of use (FD&C Act, section 601(a). Companies and individuals who market cosmetics have a legal responsibility to ensure that their products and ingredients are safe for the intended use. Example: "That's what I get for trying out an organic shampoo / conditioner containing eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil, peppermint oil and a bunch of other ingredients, plus it's also 100% paraben, 100% sulfate free, one of which I am apparently allergic to. Back to the chemicals!" Showing photo of her rash, around her neck, face, etc. When I started using body wash that was 100% natural, paraben free, grapefruit scent, every thing was ok until it was 3/4 empty that I started feeling itchy & nauseated I could no longer stand using it, I just started rinsing off the min. I put it on, & got rid of the bottle.. GOOD skin care, GOOD genes, AND good healthy diet from Mother Nature, not products made by man, and avoiding the sun & avoiding soaking in the tub or pool = good healthy skin. SENSITIVE SKIN? Skip the gels and waterproof formulas. They contain more alcohol, as well as an ingredient called propylene glycol, which many people are allergic to. Water just can not get in (sunscreen for ex.) but sweat also can not get out - which can cause breakouts. If your SKIN IS DRY, use a good sunscreen. Best sunscreen: wear dark, thicker clothing, floppy hat,, or sun clothing embedded with UPF 50, or umbrella (which protects you up to 80% of the UV rays that cause sun damage penetrate clouds, according to the EPA).. They were invented to protect us from the elements. Your hair suffers also, so cover your hair before leaving the house. Use hats, scarves, bandanas or umbrella to protect your hair from harmful rays. During winter, floppy hat, gloves, scarves, jacket are your best sunscreen. Think 1930's fashion. The longer they are, like hair dyes, the more chemicals they are. Example it should be as short as this gel: made with rosemary, cranberry, cucumber, and calendula. 5 decades of great skin care savvy, started from age 9. 63 is the new 30. I have not used moisturizer for 15 years, my skin is the same as if I used them.
What Is Your Best Defense Against Joy?
Soften our hearts like a meat tenderizerCriticizing is a cozy defense against joy. It's a strategy that we use to protect our egos and assert our intelligence and make ourselves feel strong. When really, we are just attached to our own cleverness. Hanging onto it like a life preserver, believing that without it we will surely drown. After all, who are we without all of our brilliant remarks and precious opinions? We simply must be spectacular to be safe in this world. We simply must play our special role as the insightful outsider who observes and judges everything. Otherwise we will be forgotten and left behind. The other option is to choose. To surrender into the moment. To ease into our humanity. And to allow the world to soften our hearts like a meat tenderizer. It's a much more vulnerable place to be, but as long as we suspend our critical minds long enough, joy can have free reign. Bruyere, the famous moralist and philosopher, once said that the pleasure of criticizing robs us of the pleasure of being moved by some very fine things. And so, the choice is always ours.We can enjoy the things other people create, without the compulsive need to spot check everything for imperfections and inconsistencies. We can cry and let our tears honor the things we love, without draining everything of its power to affect us. We can allow ourselves to experience the aesthetic arrest of beauty, without always asserting our opinions and judgments. It depends how vulnerable we are willing to be. Sure, it's much easier to be a critic than a celebrator. But then again, how many critics do you remember from the last century? The point is, enjoying is one of those gifts we give to ourselves. And so, next time you reach for your critical arrow, consider making yourself open, raw, tender and real by loving something instead.LET ME ASK YA THIS…* * * *Scott GinsbergThat Guy with the NametagAuthor. Its just b/c your tall and therefore have more bone weight added in, also if your athletic you have larger muscle mass which adds weight! Devon What are the little joys in life that everyone should experience? All the little joys in life are part of a large, infinite and eternal infinite joy.If we could find our Human purpose in life and collect, aim all the little joys along the axis leading towards that final purpose, and then all the people would also attach their little joys to it while we all make effort for sensing, appreciating each other's joys instead of our own, we could assemble and then all feel an unprecedented, infinite, never ending joy.How Can We Attain Infinite Pleasure? | Laitman. com.Why are Joy Division so revered and spoken of so highly?Having recorded 2 highly unusual, critically acclaimed, post punk rock albums, lead singer songwriter Ian Curtis commited suicide at the age of 23. The second album's cover art depicts 3 figures apparently grieving over a fourth figure lying on a bed. The band have stated that the cover was decided upon before Curtis's death and the album was released 2 months after with the title Closer. Make of that what you will. Rock has had its tragedies but nothing quite like this.Neither album was exactly easy listening but Closer had one track, A Means to an End, which was about as close to straight forward rock as they would get. The recording of the drum track was slowed and the guitar sound is sparse and distorted but it provides some light relief from tracks like Atrocity Exhibition and Decades. The shortest track on the album, Isolation, is positively sunshine filled compared to those and may be pointing the way to things to come when the band became New Order and they moved toward electronic dance music. This is one serious album which may have been lost forever if New Order had flopped but the release of Blue Monday and its massive success saw to it that Joy Division will always be remembered and revered
Roseman: Heating and Cooling Systems Can Fail in New Homes
I’m getting complaints about heating and air conditioning systems installed in brand-new homes. Buyers say it’s hard to get repairs done under warranty when the equipment doesn’t work properly. Bonnie and Don Pollock have a Keeprite air conditioning system, which they feel was faulty from the time they bought their home in St. Catharines, Ont. When they first turned on the cooling in spring 2007, they got nothing but hot air.“We placed a call to the builder, who in turn called the heating contractor who originally installed the system, Heritage Heating (Niagara),” Don said.In 2010, the builder sent Heritage Heating to fix the cooling system again. The same problem recurred in June of this year. The builder said their home warranty had expired. And the contractor said the compressor could be fixed only if they paid the labour cost ($339).“My wife and I were upset. We’d built a new home and had problems with our air conditioning system three times in a period of just over three years,” Don said. “And in that period, the system was not used very much.”Mike Dufour, a spokesman for International Comfort Products (ICP), which makes Keeprite, agreed to cover the labour cost when I contacted him.Keeprite didn’t inspect the compressor when it first broke down in 2007, Dufour said.If the manufacturer had done so, it wouldn’t have denied full compensation when the part failed again this year.Homebuilders tend to install low-cost heating and air conditioning systems, leading to premature breakdowns. Some homebuilders don’t even buy them, but rent them from an outside supplier.Bev Craddock has a five-year-old Toronto home. She was forced to sign a 10-year rental contract with morEnergy Services Inc. for heating and cooling equipment in order to close the deal. She’s had problems ever since. But she’s tried without success to get the builder and Tarion Warranty Corp. to address her complaints, such as a huge temperature difference between the basement and the top floor bedroom. Finally, she went to the License Appeal Tribunal to challenge Tarion’s decision that the rented equipment fell outside her home warranty. The tribunal agreed with her, saying that rented equipment was not excluded from home warranty coverage. It awarded her $40,000 to fix the problems.“I won, but there’s no end in sight,” she says. “Why won’t Tarion help me?”When Craddock asked why she hadn’t received the promised compensation, Tarion president Howard Bogach said he was waiting for the end of the appeal period (Nov. 21) before processing her award payment.“The matter of the rental of essential items within a home is relatively new,” Bogach wrote. “We are further examining the implications and are not in a position to completely waive our right of appeal.”Craddock feels the issue is about protecting homebuilders and Tarion from other such claims. She hired an expert, Dara Bowser of Bowser Technical Inc., who specializes in inspecting faults in residential heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.“Tarion has been aware of the problem since 2009,” he said, referring to substandard systems installed in thousands of new Ontario homes.Bowser contacted the Ontario consumer ministry, which is responsible for the legislation that governs Tarion, in August 2010. He didn’t get a response.I’d like to hear from owners of newly built homes. Did you have heating or cooling system problems that weren’t addressed by the builder and Tarion? I’ll follow up in a future column. Ellen Roseman writes about personal finance and consumer issues. You can reach her at eroseman@thestar.ca.
Oral Contraceptives and Heart Disease?
greater beneficial threat--Stroke (probable) in females who take severe-dose Oral Contraceptives and convey different stroke threat factors. Uncommonly, oral contraceptives could make contributions to greater beneficial blood tension, blood clots, coronary heart attack, and stroke1. SMOKING.... and how it contributes to heart disease?!?!?!?!?!?!?When you smoke your blood takes carbon monoxide into it. ( a similar situation would be to get into your car and put the exaust pipe in through the window! ) It is not the nicotine that is the killer but the CO. When you sleep your body renews its self. BUT if theres CO in your blood however much you rest your heart will not. It will be working super hard to rid your body of that poisionous CO, pumping so hard to get it out when it should be resting, So if you smoke for a long time just think of all the extra work your heart will have to do.then think hy it may fail 20-40 yrs down the line!.2. Could dolphins or whales transmit a disease onto a human when handled and/or consumed? There are marine parasites that can be transmitted to humankind. It isn't common to hear of it, normally it would be expected from under cooked animal foods. And that is the crux. The more you cook animal foods the worse they are for you, but the less you cook them the more likely you will get a parasite, or pathogen. Most marine life is infested with industrial pollution. BPA from plastics and various heavy metals. A strong link to autism is found to be related to marine animal products and one kind of kelp. It is recommended that women abstain from sea foods for at least 1 year prior to pregnancy. Optimally 5 years, to avoid buildup of mercury in their own bodies to pass to the unborn.Avoiding Fish for 5 Years Before PregnancyAnimal based foods are all associated with a higher risk for congestive heart disease and stroke. I don't think shellfish have LDL fats on the same level as fish or mammals, but they will still absorb the pollution.People who traditionally eat high levels of whale, seal, and marine foods in general are not found to have lower risk of heart disease, so to avoid possible disease from any animal product, including marine mammals, total abstention or limited to bi-monthly, with lots of whole foods in between to help wash out the toxins. To eliminate these possibilities altogether, more vigorous overall lifestyle adaptions need to be made. How Not to Die:.3. why are men more prone to developing coronary heart disease?Bit too obscure to offer a clever answer. Chest soreness or soreness for sure, and breathlessness. however the respond is complicated, in a male even completely unrelated indicators which includes ED could be an early marker for coronary heart sickness. in case you have any indicators that difficulty you notice your GP!.4. Are Indians more prone to heart disease?I am no medical practitioner. It is said, that as a race, indians have a slightly smaller cross- dimensional area of our blood vessels and are more susceptible and vulnerable to heart diseases. So it is all the more necessary to be extra vigilant in our activities5. Is SOY good for you? I read somewhere that until the 1940s, it was banned from human consumption.?Soy protein is a complete protein, which means it contains all nine essential amino acids. Nutrient-dense whole soybeans are low in saturated fat and are considered a superfood. Whole soy helps promote heart and bone health and other health benefits. The effects are so impressive that the U.S. government is currently spending more than 10 million dollars on research into the skeletal benefits of isoflavones, a key component of soybeans. Soy in your diet can lower cholesterol. There are many scientific studies that support this conclusion. In fact, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) agreed that 25 grams per day of soy protein, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease . Soy may also reduce symptoms of menopause and the risk of osteoporosis . Soy products may possibly prevent certain hormone-dependent cancers, including breast cancer, endometrial cancer, and prostate cancer . Not all soy protein products contain the same amount of protein. The following list ranks some popular products from greatest amount of soy protein to lowest: Soy protein isolate (added to many soy food products, including soy sausage patties and soybean burgers) Soy flour Whole soybeans Tofu The best way to find out about protein content is to look on the product's Nutrition Facts label to see the percentage of soy protein. Also look at the list of ingredients. If a product contains isolated soy protein (or soy protein isolate), the protein content should be fairly high. Some products also list how many grams of soy protein are in one serving of the product. On the other hand, there are side affects on some conditions. For individuals who are not allergic to soy, no serious short-term or long-term side effects have been reported from eating soy foods. Common mild side effects include stomach aches, constipation, and diarrhea. Soybeans also contain moderate amounts of a natural substance called purine. Purines can make gout worse. Persons with gout should not eat alot of soy products. In adults , 25 grams per day of soy protein may reduce the risk of heart disease. Soy foods and soy-based infant formula are widely used in children, but no studies have shown whether isolated soy protein or isoflavone supplements are useful or safe in this population. Therefore, isolated soy products are not recommended for children at this time.
Is It Easy to Change Locks?
Easy? Yes, in fact, it is a very simple job and only requires one tool. A phillips screwdriver. Unscrew the two screws on the inside part of the door. Remove both handles pulling them away from each other. Unscrew the two screws on the edge of the door where the lock is itself. Pull it out. Put the new one in the same direction. This is the most important part. You want the slanted side to be facing the door jam, otherwise it will not shut without turning the handle. Once you have it back into place, tighten it up with the screw provided. Now put your new door knobs on and tighten them up. Guess what? You are done. You have officially just completed a simple home maintenance job. Congratulations. Seriously though, this is a very simple job and can be completed in a matter of minutes. One suggestion: If you are replacing both the front and back door locks, get them keyed alike. This is much simpler to only have one key.1. Best Lycra Shorts for 5 to 6 Hours Road Cycling?
Its the one thing ive struggled with since starting to road bike, on the mtb padded shorts no problem, on the road bike it does not work. I've tried padded shorts, did not work. Padded Rapha Boxers slightly better for short rides long rides, did not work. Padded lycra shorts from DHB, better than the other 2 but still not quite right but I think its down to the size, going to order a smaller size in the shorts and see if that fixes this problem once and for all! One thing I would say is get the right size, do not be afraid to send stuff back, I have not and really should do I've got a couple of shorts I should of returned. Tempted to get some rapha bib's but the only ones reasonable are "Team Sky" and tbh do not really want those.Etxeondo shorts are the only ones I've seen that are as expensive as Assos. (Very good mind you, but very expensive). Any decent quality bib short should stand up to 5-6 hours in the saddle. I've gotten on well with Endura, Pissei (cheap from planet x), Addidas and Castelli. Getting ones that fit is the main thing. Assos ones are great if you can afford them and have the right shaped arse, otherwise they wont work as well, like Android experienced.I find pad on Assos 607 bib shorts come up a bit too high at front and the elastic grippers on legs are also very tight. Giordana are pretty good as are santini and De Marchi. My favourite are Castelli Velocissimo Due Bib Shorts. Superb fit and thin elasticated ribbon type gripper on legs .. super comfy. Stay away from shorts with gel inserts.I wore the stitching on the pads on two pairs of very pricey Castelli doing LEJOG last year (including trainig), nice shorts but very slim fit too. I've also Assos which are great, but you need to ride a bit before the grippers stay put IME and Rapha which again are excellent, but different models have different fits so best try. I am a medium in Castelli but small in Rapha and Assos.I've been perfectly comfy with my £30 Giordana Solid 3/4s with old-school, thin, plain old chamois for over 24 hours of road riding. They've lasted me years and thousands of miles, still going strong. The mid-range DHB bibs that I also have now are fine too. Saddle's the key, innit - I suspect the pad's only important if that's not right.what are your opinions on tights/leggings under shorts?they remind me of peter pan but depending on your body shape, type of shorts your planning to wear, and the color of tights/leggings, they could look semi cutewearing shorts and knee socks?Well it is one way to attract attention lol (and not always going to be friendly so be careful where you go) I think it can work if you are careful with colour coordination I like wearing knee high socks with shorts too but avoid loud colours It makes sense if you are going to wear shorts in the colder weather like this time of yearWhere to find cute shorts and skirts mid thigh length?try pacsun or ross they sell cheap cutte!!; shortsIs rollerblading in shorts weird?what else would you wear??Where can i get cheap basketball shorts?I will say trget and walmartWill you date a girl who wears pink skirts/dresses or will you date a girl who wears baggy shorts?Pink skirts or dresses, to me it's cuter and more attractive. Baggy shorts? Meh. Save that for the dudes ladies.Do high basketball socks look ok with higher shorts?High Basketball Socksshorts and a band-aid, or should i cover it up.?a scrape on your knee or leg can be painful. It can also get infected easily. So wound care is important. More important than what you ear. After a scrape wound is clean and is not infected, it is best to cover it loosely or not at all. That improves healing. Band-aids are not ideal for such wounds. Hope you feel better.
