How to Pick the Right Colour for Your Kitchen Cabinets

Family and guests always seem to end up in the kitchen because it is considered to be the heart of the home. When you are thinking about updating your kitchen, this is a very important aspect to consider because you want to make this room the most inviting and comfortable. Your kitchen cabinetry is one of the essential considerations to create the look that you want. The colour you choose will be at the centre of your deliberations since it should ultimately convey the warmth, feel and overall impact that you are trying to achieve. The tone should also be a reminder that cabinets do not stand alone, but rather a part of your new kitchen as a whole. The colour of your cabinets is a huge part of how the space is going to look and make you feel, so your colour should be one that you love. Because cabinets take up a large area of visual space, it's important that the cabinet colour works in conjunction with the rest of the decor. Here are some suggestions for you to consider: According to the National Association of Realtors, kitchens are going dark. Darker cabinets stand out beautifully when they are used in contrast to light paint, lighter countertop and backsplash. This difference is not only dramatic in its appearance; it allows you to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere without going with a white or pastel colour scheme. A light countertop, backsplash and floor will reflect light and contribute to expanding the space while lightening up the surrounding, which will help to provide balance and proportion when using dark shades. Dark kitchen cabinetry ranging in deep, rich hues has been gaining popularity on the kitchen fashion runway for the past decade with tones ranging from medium brown to black. Their acceptance has become more of a movement with glamour in the kitchen playing a significant part. In modern or contemporary homes, black, grey or mocha is a popular kitchen cabinet colour. They can pull the room together and give a strong presence with their bold tones. When you eventually sell your home, potential buyers will have the ability to enjoy a timeless design of dark kitchen cabinets by simply changing the accent colours for a new look. Dark walnut kitchen cabinets offer the beauty and ambiance of dark wood for a deep and luxurious environment. The look that they create is warm, cozy and intimate. This wood has traditionally been a favourite in home libraries, but they are being installed more often in kitchens. They are stable and reliable wood and unlikely to ever go out of style. Cherry coloured kitchen cabinets are another favourite for those who enjoy the beauty and richness of a more formal kitchen. Like deep shades of the colour red, cherry-coloured hues are graceful, beautiful, and some even think romantic. Cherry coloured cabinets are highly favoured and often found in high-end homes because of their elegance. White cabinets have always been popular, and it's not because they are trendy, it's because they are timeless. White is always in style and provides a lot of flexibility for the rest of the kitchen design and dcor. White can fit perfectly into both grandiose traditional design and minimalist, contemporary design; however, there is a downside to white. White cabinets require more maintenance simply because they are white. While it's not impossible to have painted white cabinets when you have kids or pets in the house, it's not as easy as a darker stain. However, do not let this be a total deterrent, but it is something to consider. Whatever you decide for the colour of your kitchen cabinets, you will want it to be a space where you feel comfortable. Have the space reflect your personality and surround it with colours that you love.

1. should the laminate floor be darker or lighter that the cabinets.?

Either lighter or darker. I just do not like when people try to match everything

2. my house is being invaded by ants very bad, they keep coming from everywhere, helppp!?

Buy some Terro liquid and pour some in jar caps and place near window sills under cabinets and whereever you see the ants. They are coming inside to feed and return to their nest. You must find where their nest or nests are. You can follow their trails starting at the outside of your house and you will see ants leaving the house and ants crawling to the house. It's like a 2 lane highway. You can spray ant killer spray on the ant hills but besure to stir the loose soil to spray throughly. You can also pour a little Terro from ants nest making a stream of it to soft drink can. The ants will take a detour before coming into the house. They carry this back to their nest and feed the queen. She dies as well as the queens worker ants. Spray your garbage can with scented raid. Any foods that draws ants should be tied in a grocery plastic bag. All cans, soda and vegetables should be washed before pitching them in the garbage in the house. The beetles you have described are Asian beetles. They were introduced to USA to control Afhids. They are not lady bugs. To get rid of ants is to take away their food source and destroy the nest and kill the rest. Jo Ann.

3. Im Veneering my old kitchen, the top cabinets are currently painted-Is there a glue where i wont have to strip

Let it dry to where it is tacky to the touch. Start at one end start pulling strips out as you roll down the veneer -work to the edge pulling strips of wood as you go. Trim the veneer that hangs over the edge - you can use a router or if you are carefull a razor blade or a small veneer trimmer. If you do not use wood strips you will get an air bubble. They sell a little trimmer to cut it flush( usually recommended if cabinets are 3/4" to get a little thicker veneer and trim off overhang - hard to put it down exactly straight) Supply house I have used is Woodworkers Supply in Graham North Carolina

Australia's Worst Nursing Home
A MELBOURNE nursing home under threat of closure constantly reeked of urine, had empty pest baits riddled throughout.Staff at the Belvedere Park Aged Care home in suburban Sydenham had no effective infection control system in place, medicine cabinets were left unlocked and medicine administration lists were signed off before being given to residents.Authorities also believed the home was run by an ineligible, convicted stalker and that its management had lied to residents about the long list of problems at the home. These are details from among 42 of 44 tests of aged care standards that the nursing home failed under an Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency audit. All 25 residents at the home have been relocated, but the owner won a stay of proceedings in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) on Thursday, pending a full hearing. The proprietors are now seeking an administrator to run the facility, involving large amounts of taxpayers' money. The federal Health Department released the details on its website today amid its push to have the home closed. The Health Department also believes the nursing home business is owned and operated by a man who should be disqualified from running an aged care home, because he has a conviction for stalking.Graeme Peter Menere was convicted and sentenced to three months' jail in 1998 in Broadmeadows Magistrates Court for stalking another person, a sentence that was suspended.Mr Menere has told the AAT that he is not involved in the management of Belvedere Park, owned by Saitta Pty Ltd, that he merely manages the payroll, and that his brother Russell, and Russell's wife Joan, are operating the business. The ASIC public register shows that Russell and Joan Menere live in Queensland. The audit report includes an endless list of breaches of rules associated with aged care facilities."The living environment is filthy, the carpet is frayed and reeking of urine and furniture is ripped and stained. There is built-up grime on walls and floors and an offensive odour permeates the home," the audit report states."The team observed empty pest bait nests throughout the building. A staff member said we used to have pest control but we have not had it for a long time'."Residents and visitors share a disabled toilet. Relatives state that the stench in the toilet is so bad that they use the staff toilet."Staff attempt to camouflage the oppressive odour with the use of aromatherapy oils."The report said the home failed basic care standards. One example was problems with the hot water system."One shower is used for storage of shower chairs, as only cold water is available in it, whilst staff said that hot water in the other three showers alternates between hot and cold and hot water is sometime not available after 9am," it stated.Residents' call bells were often not working or they were not within reach."Equipment used to assist residents with hygiene routines such as shower chairs, lifting routines and commodes were observed to be in disrepair. Both lifting machines were rusty, one being completely rusty."It said the home's care station was rarely locked and staff, visitors and other personnel moved freely throughout it, even though residents' confidential records were readily accessible. The medications cupboard in the care station was seen to be unlocked on three occasions during the audit."The temperature of the medication refrigerator which stores insulin, thyroxin and other medication is not monitored," the report said.In several instances, staff were seen to fill up labelled medication cups and "sign the medication chart to demonstrate that the medication has been administered (and then) proceed to administer the medication to individual residents".Medication was seen left unattended on trolleys for extended periods and was seen on the dining room floor each morning of the audit.A management notice, obtained by AAP, announced that a meeting set for last Monday for residents and relatives to inform them of the audit's matters was cancelled at the last minute. When that meeting was cancelled, the Health Department organised its own, at a nearby location, to inform residents. The notice stated the proprietor had sought an injunction to restrain the department from making contact with the residents and that the department would not be permitted to talk to them."As the Department of Health will not be permitted to make contact with you, and the matter is to be reviewed at the AAT, there is little to report to you at this date other than in this letter."Consequently the meeting on Monday, August 20, 2007, at Belvedere Park Nursing Home has been cancelled til another date to be advised," the notice said.AAP understands there is no such injunction as the AAT cannot set injunctions, because it is not a judicial body.
Organizing Your Workspace
We often get questions about personal work areas: “What is the best way to organize a desk space, bookshelves, and my whole office? What special gadgets or tools can help me organize the work most efficiently? How often should I clean and organize it – assuming that it doesn’t stay neat as soon as it’s cleaned?”I will share my thoughts about gear and workspace logistics, but keep in mind that in order to understand how it all fits together and to make this work, you should be familiar with my documents on the Workflow Diagram, General Reference Filing, the Tickler File, and the Weekly Review. All of these are available on the davidco.com website. The workspace should function like a cockpit – all the controls easily accessible as required, allowing for maximum focus on the work at hand, quick over-viewing of work to be done, and easy ad hoc processing of all forms of input (from email, paper mail, phone, and live conversation).BASIC HARDWAREHere’s a basic toolkit:1. In-basket (top basket)2. Work-in-progress basket3. Standing wire racks for file folders (work-in-progress support)4. Out-basket5. Computer6. Printer (have one right at hand – it’ll save you hours!)7. Clock8. Phone/answering machine9. Capture/communication tools – writing pad, stapler, tape; desk tray and holders for pens, post-its, paper clips, scissors, stamps.10. Labeller (for files)11. New file folders (lots, at hand!)12. Filing cabinets (within reach)13. Telephone/address database14. Calendar15. Personal supplies (best in at-hand drawers): refills for writing instruments, batteries, business cards, stationery, envelopes, headphones, blank CDs, small tools, and the like.WORKSPACE FUNCTIONALITYTwo types of materials belong in your workspace, and it’s very productive to sort them accordingly:1. What belongs there permanently2. What is in transit and incompleteMost people have vague (if any) physical and visible distinctions between these two very different categories in their environment – what has action required and what doesn’t, because it belongs there. In our workflow coaching with executives, the first activity we have them do is sort out what stays where it is and what still needs attention. Often, too, there are many things that should be purged OUT of the environment. Sometimes a plethora of outdated “stuff” can accumulate, clogging up drawers and nooks and crannies of desk real estate.Permanent StuffThe only items that belong permanently in your workspace are: supplies, reference material, decoration, and equipment. Anything else goes first in the in-basket to be processed and then is either tossed, tickled, filed or coded into your action-reminder system.“Supplies” – everything you need, and use up, on a regular basis – writing and printer paper, stamps, paper clips, tissues, ink, etc.“Reference material” – your files, ring binders, directories, manuals, lists of codes, etc.“Decoration” – wall décor, art, plants, family pictures, nostalgia, cartoons, etc.“Equipment” – furniture, phones, computers, PDAs, printers, stapler, letter opener, pens, chargers, projectors, briefcases, etc.Keep It CurrentIt’s often a worthy exercise to exorcise the supplies, reference material, decoration and equipment that really aren’t any longer. Many things that start out as functional in those categories become outdated, useless, or misplaced simply by the passage of time. It’s good to regularly purge and reorganize the desk, drawers, shelves, countertops, and files. It’s very easy to go unconscious to stuff just because it’s there, undermining the sense of active utility in your environment. If you have things still around that you’re not sure if you might need again (such as miscellaneous electronic accessories), consider putting themfurther away from you in plastic storage bins labelled “Misc Gear,” which you can then reevaluate later as to its relevance.Filing StylingIt is important to pay attention to the logistics of filing in your office area because, besides furniture, it requires the most space and physical movement to execute. General reference filing (also including support files for projects in progress) should be within easy reach. You should eliminate any resistance to filing a single piece of paper out of the in-basket, if it’s potentially useful information. (See my article on General Reference Filing.) If you have inherited your office and its furniture and itslayout, you may be the victim of aesthetic elegance and functional unconsciousness. Standard corporate issue are sideopening filing cabinets that require hanging files, which aren’t nearly as easy to use as the front-opening types with slider blocks that hold files upright. Most people need four full file drawers for their own personal general reference filing, if they have an easy enough system to use for all the miscellaneous paper-based reference material that could be keepworthy. Any reference material that can stand up by itself goes on your shelves, like books, thick manuals and binders(appropriately labelled). Anything else should live in its own file alphabetically in your filing cabinets. In Transit and Incomplete StuffThe movable stuff in the work area consists of:1. Input to be processed2. Action remindersInput ProcessingWorkspace should be organized to make it easy to process input at random times (email, voice mail, paper mail, etc.) The in-basket and your email should all be easily process-able while you’re on hold on a conference call, or waiting for someone to walk into your office. So not only the phone and the computer, but also the in-basket should be at hand’s reach. The in-basket can and should hold everything that is not yet organized, so there is no need to have a “messy desk”. Sure, I spread my stuff out to work on a project or with a client or for a meeting, but when I want to focus on something else, I need to re-gather it all and either re-file it as appropriate or toss it into “in” until I can get to it again. Of course a legal pad or some form of easynote-taking device should always be right at hand in case the phone rings or I want to check voice mail, or someone pops into the office and lets me know something that I might want to do something with later on.Action RemindingThe action-reminder tools in a workspace consist of (1) calendar, (2) reminders of as-soon-as-I-can-get-to-it actions, and (3) overviews of projects and longer-horizon outcomes. These can be in whatever hardware you have personally chosen as the most logistically efficient for your life- and work-style. They could be in a loose-leaf planner, a software application, and/or paper-based folders and baskets. The first thing usually accessed at hand is the calendar (and a clock), to let you know where you have to be when today. It signifies the “hard landscape” for your day, and so must be the most easily and consistently reviewed device and information. The next most accessible for review need to be the action-reminder lists, folder, or baskets. (“Gee, I don’t have to be in the meeting for another 15 minutes... what could I handle and get off my plate between now and then?”) The lists of projects, objectives, goals, visions, might-want-to’s, etc. just need to be accessible enough so, in the Weekly Review, they are perused appropriately for effective calibration of your intuitive operational focus.KEEPING THE SYSTEMIf the workspace is organized appropriately, according to the real principles of workflow (as I’ve outlined above) it’s no big deal to keep it up. As a matter of fact, the more airtight the system is, the more out of control you can let it get! If you’re on a real roll (making money hand over fist today), who cares how clean your desk is?! With a clear system in place, it is not only easy to get things back into control, it’s actually fun. Without the system, it’s frustrating, and there always remains a vague sense of being out of control because the game hasn’t been fully structured. The Weekly Review should be the time to get the edges back, make sure it all is in place, ready for another successful roll. But it’s also a great habit and principle – when in doubt, clean a drawer! (There’s another roll coming!)DAVID’S PERSONAL OFFICE SPACE (come on in...!)On my Desk1. Huawei 5g Technology Helps Beijing Unicom 5g Network Reach 3088mbps Peak Speed
After China Telecom and China Mobile, the experimental 5g base station of China Unicom has also been quietly opened, which can be regarded as the public test of the corresponding network before the operator tries to commercialize 5g. For ordinary users, they can more intuitively feel how fast the network speed will be under 5g network.HUAWEI's new technology gives China Unicom 5G awesome speed up to 386MB/sSince there is no mobile phone supporting 5g network on the market, in order to enable users to experience 5g network, China Unicom converts 5g signal into Wi Fi signal through 5g CPE, which is used by experimenters by scanning code access. At the same time, China Unicom also provides real-time display to facilitate users to see the gap between 5g and 4G network speeds. From the actual experience, we can see that the 5g network speed can easily reach 1964mbps (245.5 MB / s), while the 4G network speed of China Unicom is only 36mbps (4.5 MB / s). For downloading a 300MB file, 5g can be done in a few seconds, while 4G takes a few minutes.245.5 MB / S is obviously not the highest 5g network speed of China Unicom at present. They showed the achievements of using the latest technology of Huawei. Through Huawei DC dual connection technology (5g terminals are connected through 4G and 5g networks to achieve higher coverage), the peak network speed of China Unicom's 5g network at this stage can reach 3088 Mbps (386 MB / s), which should be among all operators at present, 5g network open test, the fastest speed.China Unicom has obvious 5g advantages, and the 5g network traffic charge will not be expensiveAccording to the information given by the Ministry of industry and information technology, among the three major domestic operators, China Unicom will obtain 5g test spectrum with a bandwidth of 3500mhz-3600mhz and a total of 100MHz, which is the advantage of their early 5g network business. Because this is the golden spectrum of 5g network and the frequency spectrum mainly developed by global operators, it has extensive and mature terminal support, At the same time, the cost of building the network is relatively cheaper. The network speed under 5g network is faster, which means that you consume more traffic. What ordinary users are most worried about is the tariff. Previously, China Mobile said that 5g traffic is affordable and will not be very expensive, and China Unicom and China Telecom basically agree with this view. Firstly, 5g network can carry many times more terminals than 4G network. Secondly, the profit model of operators under 5g network is to split traffic. The biggest source of profit is enterprises, such as 5g network slice realization (dynamic billing), for live broadcasting of sports and concerts, and 5g delay realization is for AR / VR, games, etc, The traffic used by ordinary users only bears the most basic basic billing. It should also be noted that your traffic usage will increase under the 5g network. According to the data released by the Ministry of industry and information technology in November, the per capita traffic under the 4G network is nearly 6GB, which may increase in the future, but 10GB will be a threshold. Zhu Hanwu, deputy general manager of Guangdong Mobile, once said at the China Mobile 5g forum that the Dou (per capita monthly traffic) under the 5g network is at least 60g, Maybe 100g is more common. What is the experience under 5g network?5g network has two characteristics: first, fast network speed and second, low delay. The first is that the network speed is faster. For the 5g network currently provided by China Unicom, the fastest speed can reach 386 MB / s, and the average speed should also be 125 MB / s. at this speed, you can watch 4K and 8K videos online in seconds, and the progress bar can be adjusted freely without any jamming or buffering. In addition, with the feature of lower delay, you can experience more realistic VR games. The game picture and sound can be highly unified under the 5g network. For example, when multiple space environments perform synchronous concert ensemble, you can clearly hear the feedback of music at all levels. For game lovers, different servers are under the 5g network, And there won't be any Caton before. How is the 5g progress of China Unicom?According to the official information given by China Unicom, in the early stage of 5g network construction, they carried out it simultaneously in 16 cities, namely Beijing (and xiong'an), Wuhan, Qingdao, Tianjin, Nanjing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Fuzhou, Shenzhen, Zhengzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guiyang, Guangzhou and Shenyang. In the third quarter of 2019, a commercial 5g network will be built in the country. At that time, they will try to commercial 5g network in some key cities, and the formal commercial use is expected to be in 2020.This article is from Silicon Valley analysts. How Do I Deep Clean My Kitchen Cabinets (non Toxic)?
MURPHY'S OIL SOAP!!1. Does anyone know of a weed killer that is non-toxic to dogs?Hot water Boiling hot2. What are your thoughts on child safe, all natural and non-toxic nail polish for kids?I do not like nail polish on little girls. It's in the same category as makeup to me and it just does not look right on a child. I think the product you mention sounds like a good idea though. A lot of little girls do want to use nail polish so that's a good way to keep them safe from harsh chemicals.3. I have ants in my kitchen!! How can I get rid of them in a non-toxic-to-humans way? I want nothing to spray!?My Mom swears by lime rind and cloves, but you end up having to put them out frequently. Also, Borax is supposed to work. (Borax is a non-toxic laundry additive that you can likely get at your local store. I know I've seen it in both Italy and England. ).4. Fireproof liquids that are non-toxic to carbon based life?If you are aiming for a conventional fireproofing solution, Hoyle's answer is probably the best. Water is nonflammable, has an very high heat capacity, is abundant, and obviously nontoxic. That said, humans contain a great deal of water and yet are still vulnerable to fire. If you want creatures that are much more resistant to flames, I would try insulating their skin, instead of attempting to make their biology inherently flame retardant. If you are okay using an ablative heat shield (which would need to be replenished over time, but that is fine if it is part of a living organism), something like Starlite could do the trick (the original formula for the insulator is actually unknown, but a really good imitation can be made with simple household ingredients). When exposed to fire, it releases a layer of CO2 just above its surface, repelling the flames. It also forms a black coating on the surface that radiates heat extremely well. Combining these two properties, a thin coating of the stuff can protect quite well against fire (some videos showcase it being able to keep an egg uncooked with direct exposure to a welding torch). The chemistry of the stuff is pretty simple, and you could probably come up with a biological analogue for it. That, or you could just give the creature thick skin/scales made of a decent insulator, so it could survive fire at least for a little while. If you want the creature to be comfortable in flames for a prolonged amount of time, the main challenge after insulating it from the heat is breathing. You would need to be able to filter out the smoke, and also deal with breathing in superheated air. You could try giving it a long-ish and more heat-resistant windpipe (not necessarily in a straight line though, so a long neck is not required) to filter the air and also absorb/radiate off some of that heat before it reaches the lungs. This is a bit inefficient for creatures on earth but if surviving fire is a requirement it's not out of the question. That, or the creatures would need to be capable of holding their breath for a long time. Certain whales can hold their breath for 90 minutes5. Clay that's non-toxic and hardens sturdy?I agree about the alginate (more below). Air-dry clays also shrink while drying but to various degrees. They will take somewhat good detail, depending on brand and type. Polymer clay would work and not shrink when hardened, but some people feel it's perhaps not really safe to eat in any way. The risk would be small if only for some seconds though and mouth washed out afterwards. It will take fine detail. Alginate is the particular molding material that many dentists use to take "impressions" of teeth in the mouth. It also wo not shrink while hardening, and will take very fine detail. It's not really "hard-hard" when hardened, but is plenty tough and only somewhat flexible. Here's the dump of info I have about it on my site, some seems to be relating to dental casts, some to ear casts (for hearing aids): ...alginate/alginate based compounds (semi-flexible ....molds last only a few days?): ....Alginate is a wonderful material. As an ex-dental assistant I MUST warn you of a few facts however for using it: 1) It MUST be mixed thoroughly. Do not leave lumps. It should not be runny when finally mixed. 2) The temperature of the water is critical. The warmer the water the faster the set up time. And I mean it can set up before you finished mixing! 3) Use a rubber mixing bowel and a plastic wide spatula. 4) Clean off the bowl and spatula as soon as possible. Many people will tell you that it is ok to let it set up and then peel it all off, but you will probably have to use scotch brite to get it all off and that will scratch the bowl. I used to teach dental assisting and after 21 years of experience it is better not to be lazy. Have someone help you while you do this. Use a small plastic container to put your alginate in and then "lay your ear" into it till it sets up. 5) Clean excess off your skin as quickly as possible. Around ears we have fine hairs that will harden up along with the alginate and it will be very uncomfortable to get off! 6) The biggest problem with alginate is air bubbles, so mix well and place your ear into it slowly to allow for the air bubbles to escape. 7) Yes! I have done this before! Good luck! Robin R. ....Alginate....FX supply houses carry it in bulk and it's cheaper than dental alginate. It sets up quickly, does not heat up the way plaster does and is more comfortable during the mold process. . . . Katherine Dewey ....Depends on how much of your body you want cast, and in how much detail. Face casts are usually made using prosthetic grade algenate, a substance made from seaweed, which picks up everything down to zits and the fine lines that texture your skin. Larger areas that do not need such fine detail can be cast using plaster bandages made for this purpose. ....Check your library for make-up books. "Techniques of 3-D Makeup" will tell you all you need to know about casting faces, ears, hands, etc. .... Various kinds of materials can be "cast" in the various mold materials after they've hardened, though plaster is one that's often used in alginate molds by dentists or at least that's been traditional for a long time.
How to Decorate Above Kitchen Cabinets?
here are some kitchen cabinets that you might like1. What would be the best way to refinish kitchen cabinets?Short of just replaceing them (very expensive) Re-facing the cabinet, then putting new doors on them is the most economical way. We found that you can get a video and materials from Lowe's to allow you to do the refacing yourself. Then measure for the doors and install them yourself. So much better than hiring someone to do it for you. Releatively easy2. how to organize files (in filing cabinets) at work?Balance sheet order. Get out your financial statements and arrange them in the same order as they appear there, first with the balance sheet, then with the income statement. You may want to have a separate file for accounts receivable (alpha order) and accounts payable (alpha order).3. Is refacing cabinets too hard to do yourself?first are they flat or designed Remove the cabinet door you will be working on. flat doors are easy all you have to do is sand the old finish and stain off (which can be done in stages you do not have to do all of them at once) if they have designs on them you will in to get a rotary tool (you can buy these at any hardware store or Wal-mart that has a hardware section, you can get one for about $25.00.) they usually come with a assortment of bits for it. when you get them sanded then comes the fun part. Figure out what kind of finish you what on it (stain, paint, or my fav the natural look)(no stain just clear coat). If you stain them make sure you get enough to do all of them.(this is to make sure they match) make sure you apply it evenly so you do not get streaks. you DON'T have to do ALL the doors at once you just have to do the door you are working on. And make sure you do them all the same.If you are painting them or just clear coating them just let them dry and rehang them.If you are staining them allow them to dry and then clear coat them (this gives them a shine and protection) ( follow instructions on stain cans and clear coat cans) Let them dry good and hang them. the over all cost depends on what you do and what type of materials you get.4. after cleaning up my cabinets with goo b gone can I lightly sand then stain the cabinets? To restain the cabinets, you have to completely sand off the old finish, which is in all likelihood, some type of lacquer. If there is a stain already on there, you could only do the same shade or darker. If you are sanding, you can skip the goo be gone.5. Should I resurface or paint these kitchen cabinets?Heather, do not paint over real wood. The result will be crappy at best. When cabinets come from a manufacturer painted, the finish is baked on, then covered with several layers of clear protectant. You will never be able to duplicate that look by rolling over the existing finish with a bucket of paint from Home Depot. I would suggest changing the other things in the kitchen, like the walls, floors, even the counter top but do not mess with the cabinets.6. Help with vintage 70's speakers please...?The 2-ohm difference will not make that much difference, provided you do not wind the volume up too much. If your amp is supposed to drive an 8-ohm load(speaker), and you put a 6-ohm one on it, this represents a 25% mis-matched load to the amp output.(because 8-ohms represents a 100% perfect load, and 6 is 75% of 8, or in other words, the difference between 6 and 8 is 2, representing 25%) The difference of 25% will be dissipated as heat in the output transistors of the power amplifier. At low volumes, this is no problem at all, however, if you tend to wind the wick up a fair way(say 20-watts or more) when you are playing your music, this extra heat in the output stage of the amplifier might prove a problem. It also depends on the class of amplifier. Most amps are Class-B push-pull complementary-pair type, and the output transistors only conduct when there is an audio signal present - this reduces heat generation. Class-A amps are the type used in studios and very expensive home-theater setups, and generally weigh a ton(and cost a fortune!), and run hot all the time, so a mismatched Class-A amp would get even hotter then it normally would at high volumes, with an incorrect impedance load(speaker). If the speakers were mine, and assuming a very loud volume, I would open the back of the speaker cases, and install a crossover network - these can be had from places like Radio Shack for only a few dollars. Choose one with an appropriate power rating(in watts) corresponding to the power of your amp. The crossover network will present the correct load to the amp, and also make the speakers sound better too. You can get 2-way and 3-way crossovers: 2-way are used in speaker cabinets with only two speakers - a woofer and a tweeter, and 3-way ones for cabinets with 3 speakers(a tweeter, a midrange & a woofer). Technically, so long as your speaker wire is at least 0.75mm thick(the copper part!), and the runs are at least 8-10 meters, then the resistance of the speaker wire itself will make up the difference, and the amp will actually see a total load of around 8-ohms(6 from your speakers 2 or so wire resistance). ...so it's not really a problem, unless you really gun your amp.

Introduction to Kitchen Cabinets
Life of kitchen cabinetsErdmannsdorff was born in Dresden to the Saxon courtier, Baron Ernst Ferdinand von Erdmannsdorff, and his wife Henriette Margarethe, ne von Heler. After early stages of education with Jakob Mauvillon in Leipzig and at the Dresden knight academy from 1750 to 1754, Erdmannsdorff attended the University of Wittenberg in 17541758, where he encountered Prince Franz von Anhalt-Dessau, whose service he entered in 1758. His later fame is due his works for the prince in his Wrlitz pleasureground near the Dessau residence. At the age of twenty three Erdmannsdorff become a Freemason and was initiated at the illustrious Minerva Zu Den Drei Palmen (Minerva to the three palm trees) lodge on 23 August 1759.In accordance with the educational ideals of the Enlightenment, the prince had the aim of reorganising his surrounding lands into a cohesive 'Garden Realm' (Gartenreich) in the style of an English landscape garden. In addition to the beautification of the landscape, cottages of various architectural styles, antique temples, bridges and memorials were to be erected and to be made accessible to everyone. Franz employed his friend and architect Erdmannsdorff to design the architectural arrangement of the grounds.Between 1761 and 1775 on several grand tours to Italy, Holland, England, France and Switzerland, Erdmannsdorff gathered ideas for the architectural arrangement of the Wrlitz grounds. Accompanying the Prince, he got to know the style of the Scottish architects Robert and James Adam (the Adams Style). At the same time he was impressed by the architect William Chambers. In Rome Erdmannsdorff made the acquaintance of the archaeologist Johann Joachim Winckelmann and the painter Charles Louis Clrisseau, and contacted the master builder Giovanni Battista Piranesi and painter Jakob Philipp Hackert. The contemporary art and culture of England made a particular impression on Erdmannsdorff as well as Prince Franz. The Palladian architecture in England, inspired by the Palladian Villas of the 16th century, can be seen replicated in Erdmannsdorff's later creations and was the strongest influence on his work next to the architecture and interior design of ancient Rome. In this artistic context he designed, amongst others, Wrlitz Palace, built from 1769 to 1773 for Prince Franz and his consort Louise of Brandenburg-Schwedt.Although Erdmannsdorff favoured this particular architectural style, he also created buildings in the Neo-Gothic style preferred by Prince Franz. Among others, he converted the influences he had received on his trip to England into the building of the Gothic House in the Wrlitz Grounds.During his time in Anhalt-Dessau, Erdmannsdorff married Wilhelmine von Ahlimb in 1781, with whom he had two daughters. In 1786 King Frederick William II of Prussia called on his services to redecorate the bedroom and study of his predecessor, Frederick the Great, in Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam, as well a number of rooms in the Berliner Stadtschloss (Berlin City Palace). Consequently, the first consistently classical interior of the Potsdam and Berlin palaces was built to Erdmannsdorff's specifications. During his stay in Berlin and Potsdam which lasted until 1789, he became an honorary member of the 'Royal Academy of Arts and Mechanical Sciences' in Berlin. Apart from this work he was above all active as a consultant in the areas of art, culture and education in Brandenburg.Between 1789 and 1790, Erdmannsdorff stayed again in Italy. In Rome he made the acquaintance of the painters Angelica Kauffman and Jakob Phillipp Hackert, as well as the sculptors Alexander Trippel, Antonio Canova and Bartolomeo Cavaceppi. After a trip to Weimar in 1791 with Prince Franz, he visited the courts of Gotha, Kassel and Karlsruhe. In 1796 he took over the artistic direction of the Chalkographische Gesellschaft in Dessau, founded in 1795, whose goal was to popularise artistic works through etchings. At this time he also worked as a lecturer at the Berlin School of Architecture, where he taught Friedrich Gilly among others.Erdmannsdorff died in Dessau at the age of 64. His grave can be found at the New Graveyard (Neuer Begrbnisplatz, today known as Historical Cemetery I) in Dessau.------Prime Ministers of Israel (1948present) of kitchen cabinetsTwelve people have served as prime minister of Israel, five of whom have served on two non-consecutive occasions. This first Alignment ended when Mapai, Ahdut HaAvoda and Rafi merged to form the Labor Party on 23 January 1968. On 28 January 1969, Labor formed a second Alignment in alliance with Mapam.2 Eshkol died while in office. Yigal Allon briefly served as Acting Prime Minister until he was replaced by Meir.3 Rabin resigned and called for early elections in December 1976. After he was re-elected as the Alignment's leader, he resigned as candidate for the upcoming elections on 7 April 1977, but legally remained Prime Minister until Begin's first government was formed. However, Shimon Peres unofficially served as Acting Prime Minister from 22 April 1977 until 21 June 1977.4 After the 1984 elections, Likud and the Alignment reached a coalition agreement by which the role of Prime Minister would be rotated mid-term between them. Shimon Peres of the Alignment served as Prime Minister for the first two years, and then the role was passed to Yitzhak Shamir. After the 1988 election Likud was able to govern without the Alignment, and Yitzhak Shamir became Prime Minister again.5 Rabin was assassinated while in office. Shimon Peres served as Acting Prime Minister until 22 November 1995.6 On 21 November 2005, Prime Minister Sharon, along with several other ministers and MKs, split from Likud over the issue of disengagement from the Gaza Strip and negotiations over the final status of the West Bank. Sharon formed a new party, Kadima, which would go on to compete in the following elections of March 2006. Sharon continued as Prime Minister.7 As the result of Ariel Sharon suffering a severe stroke on 4 January 2006, and being put under general anaesthetic, Ehud Olmert served as the Acting Prime Minister (Hebrew: ) from 4 January to 14 April, according to Basic Law: The Government: "Should the Prime Minister be temporarily unable to discharge his duties, his place will be filled by the Acting Prime Minister. After the passage of 100 days upon which the Prime Minister does not resume his duties, the Prime Minister will be deemed permanently unable to exercise his office." Basic Law: the Government 2001, section 16b In Sharon's case, this occurred on 14 April 2006, upon which Olmert became Interim Prime Minister for the remainder of the 30th government, finally becoming full Prime Minister on the formation of the 31st government.8 Olmert officially resigned on 21 September 2008. With this, his cabinet became an interim government, and he was the "Interim" Prime Minister until the establishment of a new governing coalition (he was officially the Prime Minister, however, the government under him was an interim government, in this case).9 The following parties were members of a government during only part of its term:9th: Progress and Development and Cooperation and Brotherhood, two new parties, were members of the 9th government, which was otherwise identical in composition to the 7th and 8th governments.13th: Gahal and Rafi joined 5 June 1967. Are Modular Kitchen Cabinets a Smart Purchase?
Let's be honest. In a perfect world, one would always opt for custom-made and custom-fitted kitchen cabinets designed and installed by a professional artisan. No one would even think of trying to remodel a kitchen with pre-fabricated, modular kitchen cabinets. The custom cabinets would offer so much more than the modular versions. They'd be designed with your kitchen and your vision in mind. They'd fit perfectly. They'd offer timeless beauty and amazing longevity that alternatives could never even hope to rival.Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world. Some of us can't imagine spending the money necessary to secure custom cabinets. As the economy continues to struggle, more and more people are beginning to share that perspective. That's why we're seeing an increasing level of interest in modular kitchen cabinets.Modular cabinet collections consist primarily of pre-built, individual cabinets. In some cases, these cabinets can "grow" with the buyer via the use of additional components. Both variations share two very important characteristics in common. They are ready for installation "right out of the box" and they're available at prices that are much lower than the alternatives.Modular kitchen cabinets do have a few things going for them. They are cheaper than the alternative. They are now available in a surprisingly wide variety of colors and styles. They are relatively easy to install. In the right situations, it's possible to create a look that's almost as impressive as what might be achieved with high-end custom work. Those ideal circumstances aren't necessarily common, though. In most cases, there will be an appreciable difference in looks. There are other negatives to modular kitchen cabinets as well. They don't offer as much flexibility as custom cabinetry. Designs tend to lean toward more modern looks, which might frustrate those wanting a different overall appearance. They are usually not built to the highest quality standards. So, are modular kitchen cabinets a smart purchase? That's a difficult question to answer. It's really quite dependent on the individual purchaser's situation. Those who can afford to look at options that are more expensive should probably do so. They'll be happier in the short run with the appearance of the cabinets and in the long run with their durability and lasting value. Those who need a "quick fix" and who are working within a tighter budget, on the other hand, may find that modular cabinets are an ideal solution--at least in the short run.In a perfect world, we wouldn't have modular kitchen cabinets. The world is far from perfect, however. That's why modular cabinet manufacturers stay in business. It's also why they're doing their best to create products that capture at least some of the beauty of more expensive cabinet options.
