Max8794 DDR linear regulator uses built-in n-channel MOSFET, which can source or absorb peak current up to 3A (typical value). The linear regulator uses a low voltage power input (VIN = 1.1V to 3.6V) to provide a precise 0.5V to 1.5V output. The max8794 uses an independent 3.3V bias power supply to power the control circuit and drive the internal n-channel MOSFET. Max8794 has current limiting and overheating protection functions to avoid damaging the linear regulator. In addition, the max8794 can generate a power ready (PGOOD) signal to indicate whether the linear regulator is in a regulated state. At startup, PGOOD remains low until the output is stable for 2ms (typical value). Internal soft start limits the input surge current. The max8794 supplies power to the active DDR termination bus that needs to track the input reference. Max8794 can also be used in low-power chipsets and graphics processor cores that need to dynamically adjust the output voltage. The max8794 is packaged in 10 pin, 3mm x 3mm, tdfn.
