Parents Brush Aside Suicide and Depression?

If you are a teen, remember that the teen years are the absolute worst time of your life. I am surprised any of us survive it. You are struggling with so much stress, pressures, changes... Your body and mind are trying to cope but ... it's hard, dealing with unpredictable hormones and roller coaster emotions. The brain is a very complicated and delicate thing. It can get messed up and be unable to produce any or enough serotonin. This is called a chemical imbalance which is easily treated, very common and nothing to be ashamed of. It can cause depression, anxiety, panic, obsession, self harm/self hatred, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, sleeping problems, aggression/rage, anger, phobias, fears, helplessness, hopelessness, hypochondria, ADHD, paranoia, OCD, headaches, lack of interest in things, lack of motivation/ focus and much more. Since your parents wo not listen to reason, confide in school counselor. Tell her everything, especially about suicidal thoughts and that your parents wo not let you see a dr. for meds to get better. Ask her to make an appt for you. Ask a dr. for anti-depressants. Zoloft/Sertraline is a good one; most people thrive on it and it has no side effects. With antidepressants, you will be much better, happier, calmer, confident, relaxed and feel normal. What a difference it makes! Here's some sleep ideas; do these in order: - no highly spiced dinner (pizza, curry, jalapeno peppers, 5-alarm chili - no violence, horror, explicit sex or hair raising chases on TV (radio, videos, games or books) - soak in a hot bath with fragrant candles - take a mild o.t.c. sleep aid like Melatonin (about $5 at Walmart) - drink hot cocoa or milk - sleep in a comfy bed, alone According to nearly everyone who's been to therapists, they do not help much. They are not even allowed to prescribe appropriate meds to help you get better. Do not stop taking the meds once you start to feel better. You need them, so stay on them. But meds can do only so much. God is the ONLY one who knows what you are thinking, how you've struggled and what you are going thru. He loves you passionately and wants to be your BFF. He has a super deluxe custom made plan for your life that's beyond anything you ever dreamed of. BUT He waits for us to ask. Invite Him into your heart; ask Him to take over your life and your problems. You will feel so much better. You are His special masterpiece. He planned for you before He even created the universe. Watch Him ease the stress and give you peace in it's place. He is on YOUR side. He never stops thinking about you. His thoughts toward you are more than the grains of sand on the beach (Psalm 139). Find a big, HAPPY church, attend some groups and have fun. Talk with the pastor or youth pastor; he has more wisdom than you or I. And where else can you get counseling for free? Troubled people need PEACE. A good pastor can show you how to have perfect peace. God loves you more than you can possibly imagine!! :)

In the example you gave it seems indeed a photography of a real background was used. But nevertheless we can apply brush or sketch marks to an image using external filters in Gimp. Below I did a quick sketch mark using the "Black & White - Sketch" filter from the external Gimp plugin GREYC's Magic for Image Computing. The sketched image in step 2. will need further fine tuning for more realistic brush/pencil stroke effects

How to Put on Your Party Face
( -- You've found the perfect dress, practiced your icebreaker and chilled the bubbly. Now starts the primping. This is your guide for flawless, pretty makeup. Bright red lips Add a show stopping accessory to that little black dress? Go for an elegant pop of color. Here, tips for picking the right shade and making it last through cocktails. How to do it: 1. To create a flawless canvas and prevent fading, prep your pout with a creamy primer. Press the concealer-like formula into your lips to fill lines and help anchor the color. 2. Trace your natural lip line with a clear waxy pencil. A transparent one gives definition and protects against feathering without the risk of looking fake or severe. 3. Once you've found your perfect shade of crimson -- crisp and blue-based for fair skin, orangey for olive, and burgundy for dark complexions -- apply color directly from the tube, not with a lip brush. Press the color in with your fingertip. 4. Complete the look with glowing skin and two coats of black mascara. Smoky eyes Intense, versatile and low-maintenance -- this classic look never gets old. Follow these simple steps to ensure your shadow looks soft and sooty but never slept in. How to do it: 1. Trace the upper lid with a soft black pencil to "define the shape and add intensity to the lash line," explains Halle Berry's makeup artist, Fiona Stiles. Then gently smudge it with your fingertip to diffuse the line. 2. Using a medium-size domed brush, apply inky powder to the crease of the eye. Then blend it downward for a wash of color over the entire lid. 3. With a smaller brush that has firm bristles, press a gunmetal shade into the lower lash line. Apply a silver powder to the inner corners to "lighten the overall effect," says Keira Knightley's makeup artist, Kate Lee. 4. Pile on the mascara. Stiles prefers a small, easy-to-maneuver wand. Instead of heavy lip color, choose a glossy or balm-like neutral for a "slightly less finished mouth," she says. Glowing skin When too many late nights and sugary cocktails take a toll on your complexion, consider this your radiance refresher. It's the prettiest way to fake eight hours. How to do it: 1. Thandie Newton's makeup artist, Kay Montano, uses tinted moisturizer with light-reflecting pigments "for an instant glow." If you like more coverage, apply foundation or concealer, but only where needed. 2. Swirl shimmering rose blush over the apples of your cheeks, then blend it toward the temples. Dust with a soft gold (or bronze for dark skin) highlighter along the cheekbones. 3. For clean definition on the eyes, skim a medium brown pencil along the inner rim of the lower lash line, then top it with a creamy gold pencil. Highlight the inner corners of the eyes and lids with a gilded powder for a brightening effect. 4. A slick of light pink lip gloss adds just the right dose of shine and color. Big, thick lashes If ever there was a time and place for lashing out, it's the holiday office party. The look is festive and glamorous without coming on too strong, especially with glossy lips. How to do it: 1. Makeup artist Scott Barnes uses full lash strips to accentuate Jennifer Lopez's eyes. Before applying them, sweep a lengthening mascara onto your natural lashes. Then roll the fakes between your fingers to "loosen the bend and make them easier to adjust to the shape of your eye," Barnes says. 2. Hold the strip up to your lid to measure the length. "If it's too long, snip off a few hairs so that they don't poke into your skin," advises Mally Roncal, who works with Beyoncé. Use a clean toothpick to spread glue along the base. "Never apply glue directly from the tube -- it will make a mess," Roncal says. 3. Wait about 20 seconds for the adhesive to become tacky, then, looking down into a mirror, drop the strip on your natural lash line. Pinch lashes with your fingertips. 4. Fill gaps at the lash line with the point of a black felt-tip liquid eyeliner.Get a FREE TRIAL issue of InStyle - CLICK HERE!Copyright 2009 Time Inc. All rights reserved. All About Fashion and Style
