Is wind-power a viable backup power source for Mars One?

A question related to What power source options provide reliable and sustainable power generation for a Martian Colony, particularly the answer that solar and nuclear based energy sources being the most likely for any Martian colony. This is also discussed on the Mars One website. This leads me to the question, given how windy Mars is, would wind power be a viable 'backup' or supplementary power source for the Mars One colony? Edited to add: has there been any developments in making wind vanes sensitive enough to the conditions on Mars (or similar)?

Various recipes can have other added ingredients but the basic of true Korean kimchi is 'lacto fermented' cabbage. Lacto fermentation takes place when a vegetable / fruit is preserved in salt. If prepared carefully, no need to create a brine - try this: 1 chinese cabbage cut into strips 2 cloves garlic, pressed chili, as much as you can handle salt, best to use sea salt - depending on quality and freshness of veg, use between 0.5 and 1.5% of veg. weight in salt (i.e 100g cabbage = 0.5g to 1.5g) mix salt into cabbage, turn over and over, you should see / feel the cabbage beginning to 'sweat'; add other ingredients (add radishes, an apple for sweetness if you want, carrots into strips - remember to weigh ingredients and adjust amount of salt accordingly!) once veg are well mixed with salt, place in glass jar, place a cover on top of vegetables - i.e. the cover should be touching the vegetables, no merely closing off the jar. place a weight on top of the cover, so that the vegetables are pressed down; you must create the conditions for 'anaerobic fermentation', or in other words, the development of good bacteria who can only survive by 'brathing' in the absence of air! If your vegetables are not pressed down enough, and air is allowed in the mix, you risk you veggies rotting... leave jar at room temp for a couple / three days; press down on the weight / cover regularly, the juices should cover the veg mix. after this time, place in fridge and wait a few more days if you can... kimchi can keep for a long time, it just keeps on getting stronger, and make sure veg are always kept presssed down... it is excellent for digestive health Enjoy
Compatibility of Gum Rosin with Different Industrial Applications
Compatibility of Gum Rosin with Different Industrial Applications
Rosin goes by the name colophony ("resin from Colophon") or Greek pitch. Rosin is a solid form of resin that is sourced from pines and other plants, such as conifers. Fresh liquid resin is heated to eliminate the volatile liquid terpene components in rosin production. The gum rosin contains the residue from distillation of oleoresin from pine trees.Rosin consists of several resin acids, especially abietic acid and has various colours, from the range yellow to black. The darker colour of rosin is usually called wood rosin, sourced from the solvent extraction of the stumps. Gum rosin has a semi-transparent appearance and a faint pinelike odor. This resin could become sticky when it's warm, because when at stove-top temperature rosin will melt. The production of gum rosin is mainly from Indonesia, Southern China, Brazil, and the northern part of Vietnam. The major rosin suppliers are the People's Republic of China, Indonesia, and Portugal, so the future supply of this resin depends on the production in those countries. The use of gum rosin in industrial is diverse, this resin could be used in crude raw material figure or even in modified form. Paper manufacturing, soap industries, and lubrication oil are some typical applications of the crude raw material rosin. While the modified gum rosin contains a mixture of abietic and primary acids plus a small number of neutral compounds. The mixture creates an intrinsic acidity that united with other chemical properties, making these compounds could be converted to downstream derivatives that include salts, esters, and maleic anhydride adducts and hydrogenated, disproportionated and polymerized rosins. These derivatives then used as the material for many industries, such as the manufacture of adhesives, printing inks, various surface coatings, insulating materials for electronic industry, solders and fluxes, synthetic rubber, chewing gums, even soaps, and detergents. Food Stuff IndustryGum rosin is an ingredient for producing chewing gum. Hydrogenated rosin is the type of rosin that is used for producing gum rosin. It is a dominant variety from modified rosin that has a light color, and high resistance of oxidation with high thermal stability. Not only to produce chewing gum, rosin could also be used as an emulsifier, and could be a density adjusment agent for flavouring oils in beverages.Paints and Coating IndustryFor the paint industry, rosin is the most common basic material. Rosin is highly soluble in organic solvents such as gasoline, alcohol, turpentine thus it is widely used in paint industries. While for the coating industry, rosin is used to produce various lacquers. Rosin can be converted into Lacquers by firstly converting it into resonate and refine it with dry oil and followed by mixing with volatile solvent. Not only a coating for leather, rosin also plays an important role in producing coating for road. To produce rosin for coating road sign injunction, the first rosin is converted into rosin malefic ester (disproportionated rosin) or polymerized rosin called polyols ester, this ester then used to make the thermoplastic coating.Metal Processing IndustryIn the metal processing industry, rosin is used for soldering aid and metal polishing agent. Since rosin has a weak acidity matter, it could be useful for removing the oxidation film from metal surface and could erode the surface of the metal. Thus the reason why lots of soldering aid agents contain rosin.Papermaking IndustryThe application of rosin is mostly found in the papermaking industry. Rosin played a great role as a paper sizing agent. The advantages of using rosin paper sizing agents are: rosin could prevent printing oil soaking and dispersing from the paper, it could improve the strength and smoothness of paper, and rosin could enhance the anti-abrasion of paper. However, the crystal rosin is unqualified as a paper sizing agent. This is due to the difficulty of saponification, and it could consequently make a spot on the paper, and sometimes the crystal rosin could make the pipe jam during the production. Synthetic Rubber IndustryDisproportionated rosin or DPR is the most common form of rosin that plays a major role in the synthetic rubber industry. DPR is used as the emulsifier in the production, making the improvement in the cohesion of rubber products, and the increase in heat endurance to 25%. Overall, rosin could soften and enhance the plasticity, increasing the tear strength, heat resistance, making the rubber more flexible and increase the anti-abrasion of synthetic rubber. Making the supplier of synthetic rubber could increase their product's qualityPros and Cons of sealing a flat roof with liquid rubber productAdding a sealer to the surface does not sound like a permanent repair - may last a few seasons...Covering the whole roof again does not sound like a reliable solution. Will this treatment do the 70years the original surface did?I would look at opening that joint by removing the rivets / screws whatever the fixing is, then re-doing that seal and refixing the metal back down securely.

Will Cars That Run on Compressed Air Be a Worldwide Reality?
No. They are not practical. There are slow. They do not go very far. They must be light weight which means cutting corners with safety• Other Related Knowledge ofcompressed air— — — — — —Why my computer was noisy when I operated it?check the fans get a bottle of compressed air and blow all the dust out— — — — — —What Happens if I Don't Use a Compressed Air Filter after My Compressor? PneumatechProblem: I bought an air compressor and an air dryer, but no filters. I should be fine without filters, right? Solution: It is NEVER recommended to use an air compressor and/or dryer without using compressed air filters. Although the air dryer will help remove humidity from the compressed air, it will not aide in the removal of harmful contaminates, bacteria, dirt and other small particles. Pneumatech's variety of compressed air filters provide a solution for all types of contaminates and also give you the peace of mind knowing your compressed air is clean. Particular attention needs to be given to contaminants that might appear during the compression and distribution of the air and there are different filters for each type of contaminate. How do I know which filter(s) I need for my compressed air? The application and use of your compressed air will decide which filters you need. If you are using compressed air in the manufacturing of electronics or creating of food or food packaging, you will want a higher quality of compressed air with as little contaminates as possible. If you are using compressed air to power pneumatic tools or fill tires, the compressed air can be slightly less "clean" and still get you the same end result. The different filter types are as follows: • C - High performance coalescing filters for general purpose protection removing solid particles and oil aerosol Within the above categories, there are also different style filters for differnet applications: Threaded filters are basic filters that are easy to maintain that have die case aluminum housings with special anodized treatment outside and inside to protect against corrosion. Pneumatech's line of threaded filters come in coalescing, particulate and adsorber options. Flanged filters are higher grade filters that have a special coating insuring a housing lifetime of at least 20 years and also have higher performance. These filters also come in coalescing, particulate and adsorber options and have up to 10,594 nominal cfm flow. Carbon filters are high-efficiency filters that are capable of removing hydrocarbons, odors and oil vapors from compressed air. When combined with Pneumatech oil coalescing filters, these filters can prodce Class 1 air according to ISO 8573-1:2010. High pressure filters handle high PSI levels coming from the air compressor and are used in high pressure applications. These filters have the maximum contaminant removal using highly efficient glass fiber and fleece media. These filters allow low pressure losses, increased energy savings and lower operating costs. So what happens if I do not use any of these filters? All compressed air contains some level of both moisture and contaminates. By not using any filters, you are allowing the moisture and contaminates to reach anything downstream of your air compressor. This includes any machinery or equipment that is powered by your air compressor, anything you are cleaning by using the air from the compressor and/or any products that you are manufacturing or building. For example, if you are using compressed air in your brewery to power the actuators that bottle the beer, not only will the actuators become rusted over time due to the moisture in the compressed air, but your beer is also becoming contaminated with any particles, dust or bacteria that is in your compressed air stream. It is always recommended to have at least one filter in use for any packaging, manufacturing or any other heavy-duty compressed air use application. It's the government which is the biggest obstruction to progress, and it was the same way in the last big "energy crisis" when Carter did all the hand wringing yet shut down power plant proposals, we had runaway fuel prices, all a big hoax on consumers, and inflation to match, just like now, everyone was amazed they never saw it coming. It's a "manufactured crisis", and inflation, once again, and those in the know like George Soros or Dick Cheney are rolling in the dough, big oil greases both sides the aisle in Washington, that's why no one talks of giving Big Oil a spanking like TR did over a century ago.
Seeing Air Trapped Under Ice While Underwater [closed]
Seeing Air Trapped Under Ice While Underwater [closed]
Only in very specific circumstances (which your setup seems to negate).Ordinarily (been there, done almost that), you wo not see any specific difference from below.Except in this one case, that I can vouch for: if you release bubbles, and you are under the ice with a reasonable light source with you, you will see your bubbles "falling upwards" on the lower surface of the ice. If they hit a larger bubble of air trapped underneath, delimiting a larger area of the lower surface, the bubbles will merge with it and the whole area will start rippling and sending back the light in a fractured way. That is sure to catch your eye, but if your future scuba does not release bubbles, or the swimmer is not looking exactly upwards, they wo not notice anything. If you are close enough to the trapped air sac that you look at it at a low enough angle (below the critical angle), then Snell's Law comes into play and the air will appear as a mirror. That effect is unmistakable. But you need to view the bubble under the appropriate angle, which means being close to its surface (or looking at a distant trapped sac):1. What are the reasons for the cooling of air intake on a large diesel engine or any engine?Cold air intakes are actually a smart way of "naturally-aspirated supercharging" your engine (which does not fit logically) for a little physical phenomenon:Cold air is actually dense air, that's why in air balloons, they heat the air into the balloon, because that makes that hot rises atop of the cold air, thus the balloon rises in the sky, which brings us to a conclusion: Cold air is heavier than hot airMore weight = more density, thus Cold air is denser than hot airDense air is actually more hot air for the same size, and that's what a supercharger or a turbocharger does: compresses air so you can fit more air in less spaceWe all know combustion needs air in first place (Air, fuel (burning solid/liquid/gas), and heat or spark)So if you put more air in the engine, you burn more fuel efficiently, thus you bring more power using less displacement and less fuel2. Is it true that it's better for your car to always keep the gas tank at least half full?Is it true that it's better for your car to always keep the gas tank at least half full?NOThat is just extra weight on the cars suspension and tires. That extra weight does not cool the fuel pump. The pump is cooled by the fuel going thru it not around it. If you park in an area where you get a lot of condensation inside your fuel tank you want to regularly change the gas/alcohol mixture in the tank to remove the h2o condensation. This is best accomplished by running the tank down to less than a 1/4 tank and refilling it to replace as much fuel/alcohol as possible.A lot of people who have zero understanding of fuel, fuel tanks, and fuel pumps are spreading misinformation on fuel, how a fuel pump works, and what is 'floating' around in your gas tank. Unfortunately their anecdotal ideas and stories are passed off as fact.Your car built after 1980 has about a 1% chance of NOT having a plastic fuel tank. Plastic does not rust. All gas stations in the western world have fuel filters and water blockers on the pump. So you do not get water or rust pumped into your car. If gas stations did pump water into your car then your car would not be able to drive off the gas station lot. If gas stations were 'watering down' your fuel they would need a seperate water tank and pump Then have to disassemble the fuel dispenser pump hire a criminal to highly modify it and reassemble it so it looked normal. All the dead cars on their lot lined up trying to leave the station would put them out of business and start a class action lawsuit.HINT water is heavier than fuel and sinks to the lowest point in your fuel tank which is where the fuel pick-up is.Running your car out of fuel is bad because the fuel pump is not being cooled by the fuel flowing thru it. The injectors are full of air, the injection pump is full of air. You have to crank the engine over until you have bleed the air out of the system which is hard on starters and all those little things that are cooled and lubricated by fuel.Is it true that it's better for your car to always keep the gas tank at least half full?.3. Why do people drown when their lungs are filled with air but float when the lungs are filled with water? Why do people drown when their lungs are filled with air but float when the lungs are filled with water?I think what the question is asking is, why is it that people that have drowned float as opposed to sinking because their lungs are full of water.Obviously you can't drown when your lungs are "filled with water." And so, people that have drowned usually (but not always) initially sink. But as the body starts to decay, gases build up in the body and just like with flotation gear, the body surfaces and floats on or near the surface. They are often referred to as "floaters."Why do people drown when their lungs are filled with air but float when the lungs are filled with water?.

How Radiation in Mobile Phones Has Changed Over the Years
Today Im taking you on a small journey. A journey back in time. Lets take a look at some of the very first mobile phones and their SAR rates. Did phones radiate less or more than nowadays? Whats your guess?Dear reader, we changed the address of our blog for slowdigital.com. Click here to go directly to this article on our new website. Thanks, Mudita Team.It might seem logical that with growing knowledge, after years of various research, mobile phones should produce less and less harmful radiation. Ive traced back the history of mobile phones to check if its indeed the case. You can see the results of my search below, theyre pretty interesting, arent they? On the list youll find several bestselling phones and their SAR rates. What do you think about it?No one cares about SAR? Not anymore. As you can see, theres no logic or predictability behind the SAR rates of todays and older mobile phones. SAR values vary even for different models from the same producer. Also, high SAR rate is characteristic not only of the mobile phones from the past. There are a lot of new models which have higher rate than their older versions. Nowadays, most manufacturers provide information about the SAR values for their products and its easy to find it, so theres no excuse for not comparing the SAR rates before you get a new phone. Its in your interest.Dont forget to check the SAR rate the next time you buy a new mobile phone. Be smarter today than you were yesterday. If you want to keep up to date with us and our articles (or follow what were doing in general) then you can find us via Facebook: Slow Digital.
Direct Methanol Fuel Cell
Direct Methanol Fuel Cell
Direct methanol fuel cellDirect-methanol fuel cells or DMFCs are a subcategory of proton-exchange fuel cells in which methanol is used as the fuel. Their main advantage is the ease of transport of methanol, an energy-dense yet reasonably stable liquid at all environmental conditions. Efficiency is quite low for these cells, reaching around 10%, so they are targeted especially to portable applications, where energy and power density are more important than efficiency. A more efficient version of a direct fuel cell would play a key role in the theoretical use of methanol as a general energy transport medium, in the hypothesized methanol economy.— — — — — —can somebody explain flex fuels uses in new vehicles.?its made with methanol which uses corn to manufacture, you have to have a flex-fuel engine before you can use it!— — — — — —Would cyclohexanol react faster than normal alcohols (methanol, ethanol) with HBr?Well, yes, sort of. After all, cyclohexanol is a 'normal' alcohol, though I am not sure what an 'abnormal' alcohol would be.Perhaps what you are really asking is whether a secondary alcohol, like cyclohexanol, will react more quickly with HBR than a primary alcohol (like ethanol) or methanol. Also, what reaction occurs is also important. I am assuming we are talking about the conversion of cyclohexanol to bromocyclohexane, as shown below. Also shown above is the reaction of a 'normal' alcohol (1-heptanol). Note that both reactions result in the formation of the corresponding bromo-derivative but that the reaction for the normal alcohol has to be conducted at higher temperatures than for the cyclohexanol bromocyclohexane reaction.Would cyclohexanol react faster than normal alcohols (methanol, ethanol) with HBr?— — — — — —Which of the following compounds most readily undergoes solvolysis with methanol?_____Bromo on double bonds are not very reactive to solvolysis and neither is a aliphatic one next to saturated carbons (esp primary one. If you are inquiring about psychoactive alkaloids, ask the people over at shroomery.org— — — — — —Methanol toxicityMethanol toxicity is poisoning from methanol. Symptoms may include a decreased level of consciousness, poor coordination, vomiting, abdominal pain, and a specific smell on the breath. Decreased vision may start as early as twelve hours after exposure. Long-term outcomes may include blindness and kidney failure. Toxicity and death may occur even after drinking a small amount. Methanol poisoning most commonly occurs following the drinking of windshield washer fluid. This may be accidental or done purposefully in an attempt to die by suicide. Toxicity may also rarely occur through extensive skin exposure or breathing in fumes. When methanol is broken down by the body it results in formaldehyde, formic acid, and formate which cause much of the toxicity. The diagnosis may be suspected when there is acidosis or an increased osmol gap and confirmed by directly measuring blood levels. Other conditions that can produce similar symptoms include infections, exposure to other toxic alcohols, serotonin syndrome, and diabetic ketoacidosis. Early treatment increases the chance of a good outcome. Treatment consists of stabilizing the person, followed by the use of an antidote. The preferred antidote is fomepizole, with ethanol used if this is not available. Hemodialysis may also be used in those where there is organ damage or a high degree of acidosis. Other treatments may include sodium bicarbonate, folate, and thiamine. Outbreaks have occurred due to contamination of drinking alcohol. This is more common in the developing world. In 2013 more than 1700 cases occurred in the United States. Those affected are usually adult and male. Toxicity to methanol has been described as early as 1856.— — — — — —What do i need on my car before doing methanol injection. The purpose of methanol injection is primarily for cooling the incoming air charge. Turbo charging and super charging an engine heats up the air charge. Methanol injection is used to substantially cool the air and to stabilize combustion. without any kind of forced air induction methanol injection will not increase performance. And can actually do more damage than good.

The new law that bans smoking in all public places, restaurants, bars etc effective in one month in Greece...?As with all countries that have this ban bars, clubs etc will not suffer at first, this is because the ban is always implemented in the summer months. Greek bars all have outside seating as it is so hot, therefore no changes have to be made (as long as wind breakes are not covering all sides). It will be in the winter months that this ban will hit hard as everyone will have to smoke outside bars, clubs etc. In England this has had the effect of closing many pubs around the country, a sensible approach would have been for bar customers and owners to have a choice, smoking or no smoking

In which store have cheap diapers and baby wipes?Your best bet will prob be to go to Sams where you can get cases of these items. With twins you buy more and more and never have enough on hand when you need them3. What brand baby wipes do you prefer mother's?I like Pampers Clean & Go wipes. They are in bags with a pop top so you do not have to bring another container with when you are on the go - they are tick and smell good too. I prefer them over any others4. Baby wipes expire?!?ROFL That's a good one. I had no idea they expired either. I've had some sitting in my closet for MONTHS. Maybe I had better go look at teh dates?5. Is there a good way to keep my Shitzu's face clean in between baths??To keep the face clean, a daily combing and reset of the top knot in a rubber band helps. Be sure to comb the facial hair and use baby wipes to wipe away any debris. To reduce tear stains and even urine stains, you can also add powdered buttermilk (available in any grocer where they keep other powdered milk) sprinkled on the food--one teaspoon should be enough based on this breed weight. Make sure it is powdered--not from the dairy case6. I left a large refill pack of huggies baby wipes in my van overnight and they are now frozen. Are they ruined? They will be just fine as long as you let them thaw out its happened 2 me a cpl of times7. Is it safe to clean your face with baby wipes?if its safe for babies its safe for older people lol8. Can those wet wipes that you put on the Swiffer Sweeper also be used as baby wipes for my 10 month old?no, take your lazy *** to the store and get some wipes, I hope this is not serious9. weird that I use baby wipes? No, it's actually a really good idea10. How many boxes of baby wipes and packs of diapers do you have to buy per month?I buy the big boxes of Huggies Natural Care wipes at Sam's. They are around $14 or $15 and they last about 2 1/2 to 3 months. I think it's the same as 9 regular boxes of wipes. I use them for clean ups and not just diaper changes. Of all the wipes I tried from my baby shower gifts these were the ones I like the best and the price is not bad at Sam's. As for diapers we use cloth in the day so I spend extra for Huggies Supreme Gentle Care overnight. One of the $10 30 diaper packages will last me all month. I have not found overnight diapers in my daughters size and she sleeps up to 12 hours so I need a good quality diaper overnight so she does not leak or get diaper rash
Two Questions and an Announcement?
Two Questions and an Announcement?
I am 5'1 and currently in a G/H cup and my hotslings work awesome for me. And it distributes the weight really evenly, which is important for me because I have back problems as it is! :) I have some diaper liners, but they tend to make the poo stick to my baby and It does not look all that comfy, or healthy...I would rather it be on the diaper! I hope you get some good answers about that one because I am looking for some myself. Someone said strips of fleece would work well as liners, and I might just wind up going to the fabric store and making my own. We will see. Congrats on the potty training! wow!!1. Do whiting strips really work?they do for some people, but not all because some people have naturally darker teeth than others, but if you stick with the whitestrips and constantly use them they might work for you2. Vegetables for a stir fry?Bok Choy is always good, so are snow peas. And fresh garlic and freshly grated gingerroot. Throw cashews and chicken together. I would not use frozen vegetables as the water content in them will make your stir fry "soggy". Cut your veggies on the bias, and use a high temperature oil...like peanut oil. Mushrooms, mung beans, prawns and pork are good. Pork and mandarian oranges are good together. Strips of beef with green peppers are good. So are pineapple and chicken. Be creative3. Need recipe. Chicken with Peanut butter sauce!?I am so glad you asked this question. This is my favorite recipe. When we first had them, we melted. I served these last month at our wine tasting event and everyone RAVED. I hope you like them as much as we do. If you do not them on skewers, I would just use chicken breasts and flatten them out a bit before marinating them. You could even do strips too and serve over rice. Yummy! Ingredients: 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter 1 cup coconut milk 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1 1/2 tablespoons dark brown sugar 1 teaspoon ground ginger 2 garlic cloves, chopped 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes 2 lbs chicken cutlets 30 wooden skewers, soaked for 30 mins Directions: mix first 8 ingredients, remove 3/4 and refrigerate. cut chicken into strips and marinate in remaining sauce for 1 hour. heat broiler, thread strips onto skewers and broil about 6 minutes. bring refrigerated sauce to room temp and use as a dip for the chicken4. Does biore pore strips hurt ?A tad, Yes...It's like ripping a band aid off, or waxing your eyebrows5. How accurate are Ovulation Strips?Ovulation predictor kits test for the LH surge in your urine. Judging by what you said, Saturday was when your surge happened. However, just because you are surging does not mean you are actually going to ovulate. The best method is to take your body temp with a basal thermometer. You can find these at Wal-Mart or any drugstore. You take your temp when you FIRST wake up-before getting out of bed to do anything. When you ovulate you will find that your temp goes up about a degree within two days of testing postive on an ovulation test. However, if your periods are coming in a normal manner then this could be your month. Good luck!6. When using Ph test strips...?A PH test would help but if I were you, I would get a TDS meter ( Total Dissolved Solids ). I bought one for $12 at Walgreens7. What are some of the uses of metals based on their properties?Metals are malleable, ductile, have luster, and are conductive. Being malleable means it can be hammered into thin sheets without breaking, and so think of aluminum foil. Being ductile means it can be stretched or drawn into strips. Wire is an example. It's not brittle and so can do it without breaking It's shiny. Think of all the uses for that. Jewelry, etc. It's conductive. It passes heat and electricity easily. You can probably easily figure out examples for those8. Does teeth whitening strips really work?Yes they really do work well. crest and Rembrandt are the best. Bright smiles to you :)
What Is the Science Behind a Refrigerators?
What Is the Science Behind a Refrigerators?
To make it high efficiency all the components have to be good. So a refrigerator is an insulated box with a door. In the box are pipes to carry a cooling liquid to the outside where the heat it picks up is transfered to the outside air. To move the cooling liquid is a pump. This is controlled by computer or thermostat and there might be other things such as a light inside and outside. So simple things: Lights - make them energy efficient types such as LEDs rather than traditional incadnescant types (which will heat up the fridge when they are on as well) Insulated box - use the best insulation that yuo can and as thick as you can get away with Door - use a similar idea, thick and as good as you can insulation, and make the door seals as good as they can be to prevent draughts into it Cooling liquid and pump need to get the heat out of the fridge with as little energy use as possible, So highly efficient motor and a cooling liquid that transfers heat as well as possible (this is why fridges used to use CFC's - a more efficient heat transfer than say, water) Hope that gives you a start1. What is the best Breast Pump?I know that Playtex makes a breast pump. But the BEST breast pump is one that is hospital grade2. working function of hand pump?to pump water or air is the flippant answer I am going to assume you mean one of those old fashioned hand pumps for water. There is a hollow tube. There is a circular piece of metal that fits very closely the size of the tube. This is attached to the rod that is attached to the handle. When you push down on the handle, the circular piece moves up. When you pull up the piece moves down. Now when you push the handle fast enough the piece of metal moves up so quickly it leaves an area of considerable low pressure. Now all the air and water will be pulled to this area of low pressure to fill the gap. This will be enough force to combat gravity, and water will be pulled up. Then the pump is designed so this water will trickled out of the pump. A hand air pump does the same thing with the tube and the circle and the rod. High pressure forces the air out, low pressure draws the air in all pumps should work on this premise. The powered ones just use a motor instead of hand power. (I came to this conclusion by myself. Google or wikipedia, or howstuffworks.com to get a more informed source)3. Help with fuel pump issue?Your 1986 Sammi was equipped with a carbureted 1.3L inline 4 cylinder engine as stock equipment. If it's still got its original equipment, it will have a mechanical fuel pump located at the top, rear corner of the engine on the passenger side. It's located on the cylinder head, just under the valve cover mounting flange, not the block itself. You should be able to remove the air filter housing from the carburetor and, using your hand, follow the fuel line from the carb back to the pump. A stock replacement pump is about $50 or so at most auto parts stores today.4. Songs that pump you up?anything from the prodigy5. Is a breast pump completely necessary?I was always AROUND to feed my first baby, and did not bother to get a pump... Then I broke my knee and needed surgery, and needed to run right out, buy a pump, and suddenly leave Dad with the 5 month old who had never in her life had a bottle before... It worked, but was really stressful for all of us! So with the next two, I made sure to pump occasionally and practice, just so the babies knew how it worked and I knew if it's necessary, it wo not be a disaster again. The other thing pumps are really helpful for is if you get a clogged duct when the baby's teeny and not a very strong feeder yet- saved me from antibiotics two times when I had the beginnings of mastitis. A cheapo pump will work just fine, and then you can always see if you need a better one. (And check craigslist/ebay for used ones and then just buy new tubing, etc...) Best of luck to you!
